My 3 year old whippet, George has recently been running through lots of long, wet grass. I noticed last night that he had a rash all over his tummy and inside of his legs. Today they have turned into lots of pus filled spots. They don't seem to be irritating him - any suggestions on what to do? He hates going to the vets and I would like to avoid it if possible...I will take him straight away if he appears uncomfortable.

Aloa vera gel, keep the area clean with a solution of salt water. they will go. mine get them and I just keep clean and wack on the gel. Or Lavender oil is very good.

Yup lavender oil used here too ... half brothers Tyg and Taran both get them ... it always does the trick

my lot have had this throu running throu wet grass what i do now is smother there bellys and legs in vasaline protects the skin when there runing throu long grass so they no longer get the rash

Two of mine got this a couple of years ago too.....just cleaned with a drop of Lavender in water....its never happened again since.

A big thankyou to everybody who offered advice..I will be buying lavender oil tomorrow - do I dilute it?

Anyone know the best place to get it from on a Sunday?

Grace got this her first two summers, but this year, even though she has been running through plenty of long grass, she hasn't  I'm wondering if it is because I am now giving her 'Billy No Mates' a herbal mixture in her food to keep fleas and ticks away. Might the rash have been from biting insects in the grass? Grateful for anyone's thoughts on this.
