Hi all

Had an interesting Skype Conference call yesterday and it got me thinking.

What do you think about a Skype Talk-in?

It would save on the cost of the hire of the hall and travel costs.

Plus you could eat your own food and log-off when you got fed up with the conversation..

Is this the way forward?

Rob.. :teehee:

Didn't you know, you are classed as a second class citizen nowadays if you havent a computer, & some of the rubbish & trouble they can cause I'm glad I haven't got one but that meens going to the libary to use one, but hey ho who cares.

It IS the way forward.

But that would mean whippet racing being dragged into the 21st century. And that won't happen. Until the middle of the 22nd century at least (w00t)

The no computer argument is as feeble as it is expected. If being a part of the talk-in is important to someone it wouldn't be difficult to FIND someone who would let you use their computer.

The fact is, that travelling long distances, and paying increasingly more to do so, to take part in something that in all probability will be futile, is all the reason you need to avoid the Talk In. But sat at home in a comfy chair, and it seems a lot more appealing somehow :)

I do agree Ian, I cant drive long distances any more.. too old, never mind the hideous price of diesel. I'm sure Rob's remark was a bit tongue in cheek, but actualy, I think its a great idea. I dont have skype, but understand its easy, I'm a fairly new convert to computer-world, taught myself with help from my friends and am totally hooked. I would love to be able to be involved in talk in. you could always switch off it got too boring and you'd still be home for tea without struggling down the motorway!

Here here Ian & Gill, while we are at it we might as well have the racing on SKYPE as well, so we do not go out in the bad weather & do not have to meet people we would rather not see.

But we would miss meeting our friends, but what a lot better off we all would be.

Can you not afford the petrol Bob

How did todays meeting go, did you Skype it.

True - I studied humans behaviour as Uni and I find it interesting to make a statement and watch the the reaction of others.

Now if I suggest something I'm always wrong - not a problem - irrespective of the subject. Hook, line, etc.

I have not got the 1930s scales only a picture of Peter Spokes using them.

I think racing online has been suggested before along with problems of the uphill track at the Lambton.

Fuel at over £6.50 a gallon - its nice to hear that racers have the funds to continue with the sport. A tank full approaching £100, not cheap to travel.

Interesting!! :clown:

New ideas always welcome :)

I will be hosting the Harlow Virtual Open on Sunday March 4th.

Entries here please. Don't worry about weights, passports, ages or distances.

All will go into my patented Randomising And Fully Functioning Largely Electronic System and the results posted in due course.

Entry is free, and all winners will receive a link to a photograph of their trophy :clown:

Have a safe journey home, and good luck :luck:

Shame you did not study man management at UNI

You might talk to people a bit different
