Hi
I just read on a couple of threads about the Sloughis bred down in the South West that were taken into rescue (didnt want to hijack either thread so thought I'd put this up new )
The first lot of Sloughis were taken from Sue Harper in 2002, a second lot in 2003 and the last of them from Jacky Saunders in 2005. They were all rehomed apart from three, 2 who were so horrendously neglected they would not have made a decent recovery and one who had such severe nervous aggression the RSPCA made the decision to have him pts. Most of the dogs were in a bad way but all made a good recovery over time.
I set up a website to help rehome these dogs in 2005, I also had a Jacky Saunders bred Sloughi who had turned up in rescue in 1999, I had no idea who or what he was at the time but found out as things unfolded. He was called Oscar and was the most amazing dog, sadly I lost him just before his 12th birthday at the end of last year to cancer. You can see his story here

Donna who someone mentioned is now called Belle. She was my Oscar's sister and is having a wonderful life with her family down in Cornwall. I went to stay with them last year and she is an amazing little dog  Here is her story

Bertha - I am interested that you mentioned handling the Kamet dogs in particularly Leo in the past. A dog called Leo went into rescue (although names were confused and muddled at the time), however this Leo doesnt look like the dog that other people remember being showed at the time. I wonder if you recognise him? Leo's kennel name was Kamet Xkha if that jogs your memory at all! Unfortunately this dog is one of a few that went to people who have overfed him so he may be unrecognisable anyway

I dont suppose you have any photos of those dogs at the shows back then do you? I have managed to get hold of a few but there seems little trace of this kennel in regards to photos and articles and it is a great shame that so much has been lost.
Thought I'd just share this information as a few people seemed interested in what had happened to these dogs ) The website gives the story of what happened to the Kamet kennel and also about some of the dogs that were rescued.
