How small the world has come with the internet, a couple of weeks ago a woman phoned me about a litter I had some 16 years ago, she had a new pup who’s blood line was linked with my beardie/ greyhound bitch that I took to be covered by one of Dave Platts deerhound/ greyhound Samson stunning dog and a wonderful chap Dave. I was able to give her my Missy’s blood line info to fill in the blanks . I asked her how she’d got my contact details and through dear Dave Platts he remembered my bitch and that I was a stonemason somewhere in mid Wales but not my name. She googled and first listing she tried was me, small world. The great part about it is, she had Dave’s number, so I gave him a call, he is a great chap much respect to him, he remember me well and has agreed to me taking my latest beardie/ greyhound Jessie to be covered by one of his dogs when she’s next in season which should be start of next year, fingers crossed the sound of tiny paws will be heard here again. My reason for a litter is not for monetary gain, I would like another dog pup, Bryn my oldest dog 9 now is slowing up work wise, Jessie will be doing the hunting this season, well earned retirement for Byrn. I’m going to put a notice of intention in the countryman’s weekly to gauge interest.

The internet is great. ...i would be interested in a pup...our 3 are all elderly now and finding a good true lurcher is near on impossible. ...
My beardie X deerhound has been a wonderful bitch ...we did think of putting our girl in pup many years ago as she is12 this year but we would have wanted to have kept them all....
We travelled 5 hours to wales to get our Working Jack russell ....

I did the same a 5 hour journey to collect my lovely little jacko Tilly from a rescue centre, worth every minute and mile. Jess will be 3 next year and it will be her 3rd season, so feel it will be the right time, I’m completely happy with her temperament, she has shown real mustard for work, no wrong behaviour at all, full on and enjoys it.

She sounds perfect ....look forward to next years updates. ..
My son has been training a lurcher to pick up after reading an article in the coutrymans weekly and is very impressed with her ....

I love a bit of Deerhound in a lurcher, and Dave P. has done sterling work in breeding them.

I've just been looking at images of "Dave Platt" "lurchers" - oh my, they are stunning. Out of interests, are beardie crosses a bit less 'collie-brained' compared to other collie crosses? Because I do prefer a more laid back dog to one with a 24/7 work ethic

Plenty of intelligence there and very biddable, a pleasure to train. Jess is still relatively young, getting calmer . Bryn same cross now coming on 9 is very laid back, hence retirement is calling.
