Finally we had some time to take pics of the pups

(CH C.Square's Handsome Hannibal X CH Lightfall's Will-O-Wisp)

PP's Inner City Life "City" and PP's Lightfall Lunatica "Vega" are 6 months old now, and will debute in the show ring soon. It won't be an easy job among the numerous same aged not black ( :D still a rarity in european rings) and not american ( :D ) pups, but we will do the best we can!

(w00t) They are both very beautiful   Great pictures  :luck: Good luck with them :luck:

Stunning dogs - good luck in the show ring. :luck: :luck:

How tall do you think they will finish out?

That would be my main concern for Europe--these are not small bloodlines here in the USA. I hope they stay within size for you. Other than that--they look great! You have done a wonderful job with their coats, too.

Thank You....well, I think that City will be somewhere between 53,5-55 cm.

My first male is 54 cm tall (with a rather mixed pedigree, has some american and aussie blood), and he could finish. There are judges who are tolerant and there are who are not.

Our standard gives a plenty of rope for interpretation, and oversize is not a disqualificationing fault and not a so called "serious fault", just a fault, or a divergence, and the judges' job is weighting the faults or divergences.

The luck is that there are some pups here at the moment with similar sizes (coming from other US lines), so ours won't look like giants.

Well, my prophecy is that Vega will be about 49 cm. I am sure that she will be smaller than mother Willow, and that's very good for us. Her size will be much more tolerable here, I think. 49 cm is absolutely OK here...and there are concurrencies here where Willow does not look "big".

So I think we have everything here....

Not the size itself what's making them a bit different -but type-, there are quite big european Whippets as well. If it's good or not....depends on taste. I have my own ideology about size, but it is a long story, and not for this topic. :)

Fur: they haven't ever taken a shower in their lives :) :) (only with clean water against mud, hihi), so I think that their shiny coat is a genetic heritage, or is in connection with feeding. Don't really know, but I am very happy on it, because I hate chemicals. :)

Of course they will have to meet some shampoo before their first show....but hopefully nothing more! :)

Well, now I have to get out my metric conversions!!

Anyhow, I hear from owners of other black Whippets that it is best to bathe them a few days before a show and not the day before the show as sometimes they will start to flake a little for 24 hours after a bath.

No, no, absolutely not! :)

I just thought that this is a "picked bone" and no one is interested in my opinion.

I personally think that size is as important part of the standard as for example: head, angles, lines, ears, etc. As important, and not more or not less important. Something what should be correct, and something we have to try to reach.

I wanted some black, some american black, and I knew that I have to deal with bigger size. Quid pro quo. It can happen that there will be some dissapointing results because of this size, but we all doing the same: trying to find the judges who like our dogs, or just simply have the same preferences. :b

I hope that I will be able to push this size down in the future. I have to focus on FCI standard size, and try to keep it. :)) That's all. ( I wish it was so easy.... :D )

Thank You for the advice on black fur, I have the same with mother Willow. It was confusing at the first time I showed her, :D . But now I am quite good in black. :D :D

Congratulations  They look great. Best wishes for their show debute :)

For those needing help;

49 cm = 19.2913 "

53.5 cm = 21.0629 "

55 cm = 21.6535 "

I wouldn't worry about the height at the moment. My first whippet is mainly american and she did all her height growing in the first 9 months from there she just filled out. She actually lost half an inch in height when her pasterns settled.

What a striking pair of whippets.

Best of :luck: with them both

Your black pups are gorgeous - I wish you lots of good luck with them.

I have been washing black whippets for over 20 years & I have found it best to dilute the shampoo right down so you don't get too many suds, rinse out REALLY thoroughly (very important) & never use conditioner. I don't know why not using conditioner should make such a difference but it does. If you use it you will get white flakes in the coat. Also never use a shampoo for humans, only dog shampoo.

wow!!! one of the most stunning Whippets I've ever seen!

They are looking great

I am always impressed with the lovely sheen most of the blacks we see in piccy's have, Lida (Seraphina) also has particularly lovely glossy coats.

However, I must make comment on the gorgeous orange croc's (w00t) I have an EXACT matching pair down here in NZ :D Nice to see the styley trend has been shared all around the world :- " Definately compliments the shiny coats :p

Hi

If I may add a little hint here on flaky coats. Of course always rinse well, but a sparay of 1/2 water and 1/2 Listerine will help those white flakes in any color coat. Use the "real" original formula Listerine, not any of the generics.

It works
