Hi all I am new to this forum and was wondering my chorkie jack is 14 weeks old and I wanted to know the best way to get him uses to other dogs. He loves people and will go to anyone willing, he does want to go to other dogs but runs off when he gets near them and cowers next to me. Any help would be appreciated

Try getting in touch with local vets and see if they have any puppy classes :)

Or a local training club, they often have puppy classes designed to socialise them to other dogs and people.

Look out for Puppy Classes run by an APDT trainer. They have to keep up to date with all the modern methods of dog training. They will give one to one advice too.

In the meantime try to find a calm older dog that you can spend time coaxing you little one to approach. Use something tasty like chicken or cheese to persuade him to approach. Only go at his speed and reward him if he makes a step or two towards the other dog.

It is vitally important that all dogs are socialised as early as possible in their lives so it is urgent that your puppy is socialised.

A good book is "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey.
