Silkstone Secret Gold ("Damon") was a stunning dog in the showring and he left a wonderful legacy of progeny of classic type that Roma Wright Smith was so, so well-known for producing. His passing is indeed a sad loss to the whippet breed. He sired a few litters in the UK before moving to Europe. It was said at the time that the UK had lost one of its most promising sires. In Europe he had an enormous impact on the breed. :( :(

Here is a link to his pedigree and achievments: http://thewhippetarchives.net/details.php?id=2471

There are not many around as classy as you, Damon.

So sorry to hear this, a stunning dog of real quality , he will be missed R I P Damon :(

Always sad to hear about the death of one of these beautiful dogs. :(

Have just followed the thread to whippet archives. Am I reading it correctly, that he was poisoned?

How sad and Tragic to loose a dog like that

RIP Damon

I remember Damon well . I took him to a couple of shows and handled him for Roma when she went away

.One show being Border Union , I feel sure I have a photo of him having a stroll down by the river at Jedburgh on the way back . he was a real gentleman and a credit to the breed . it was a shame he left these shores

R I P Damon

What a beautiful boy he was.

Run free Damon

Yes, according to his owner he was poisoned. She was very upset, so I have not heard any more details from her. :( :(

Damon's granny, Silkstone Moonlight, was litter sister to my first whippet Sunny :huggles:
