Lucy free 6 week KC insurance will be running out soon which is quite pricey if i took it out

ive been looking at homebase dog insurance(amongest others) quoted £14.60 p/m,£7500 vet fees per year,£75 excess with the platinum cover, lifelong and no extras once older and %10 per additional dog,10% off on line

as anybody use these..any good

Bow s with halifax but thinking of changing as that gone up but paid out well with peggy

I've used Argos Platinum with all of mine. Excellent life cover and no problem with paying out. Around £11ish a month per dog from a puppy

Sox is one of their best customers  ........ I've claimed about 5 times already for her various stitches and antiBs with no increase in premium!!! :D

My sister in Law had a really bad experience with the KC puppy insurance provided by breeders.,

5 days after the puppy arrived she took him to the vets for his first jabs. The vet noticed that his puppy teeth were growing the wrong wayround and they needed to be removed (cost £900). The KC puppy insurance refused cover this saying that it was a pre-existing condition. The breeder offered to take the puppy back and give her a refund. She refused as pup was a member of the family and had been long awaited. When his adult teeth came in, several of these had to be removed too. Total cost nearly £2,000

I always advise my friends to take out their own insurance straight away when they get a puppy and cancel the KC insurance, it is not worth the paper it is written on

I have used Tesco insurance (cheaper one, max claim £4,000 and each illness covered for 1st year only) for Toddy. They have paid out on everything he has had done this year. The excess is £60 and the premium was £8.50 (just gone up to £10.00).

we had "more than" one of the terriers then needed an op on her shoulder, 3 weeks after taking hers out(policy) they refused to pay as they said that she wasnt covered in the first 4wks, vet was fuming with them, and told me the only company he didnt have probs with was Pet Plan , we also asked the vet where we take the whippets who she would recommend and she said the least problems are with Pet Plan, also asked Drake at the dog track where we take the dogs if they have a running injury, he said that Pet Plan was by far the best, I think its £16/dog that we are paying for them so we went with them and have been ever since
