Portsmouth has brand new electronic traps and hare and racers moving floor boards about would set them off and the track will not allow them as was stated in the Whippet News. We never use them at schooling tracks down here when we train our dogs and they still do good times as the dogs did not Sunday, in fact the brilliant time Magical Dreams did surprised the Assistant Manager who was doing the timing in and he wasn't the only dog to do a good time on the day so I can't really see the problem.

WELL I GAVE MY TWO THERE FIRST TRAIL WITHOUT A KICKBOARD AT HIGHGATE ON SUNDAY. THEN RESTED THEM 1 HOUR, THEN GAVE THEM A TRAIL WITH THE BOARD, THE BITCH TRAILED SLOW ON THE SECOND RUN, THIS WAS NOT NORMAL FROM HER,.. SO WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED HER OUT, SHE HAD A CUT ON HER RIGHT REAR FOOT. I BLAME NOT HAVEING A BOARD IN.ON HER FIRST TRAIL..I ALSO ONCE GAVE HER MOTHER A TRAIL WITHOUT A BOARD IN AT THE SAME TRACK, AND SHE ALSO CUT HER REAR FOOT. COULD BE CAUSED WITH NOT BEING USED TO NO BOARD...

hi sheila,

yes already had e-mail from someone explaining about the traps,

its not the times dogs do with or without a borad that i worry about its the fact that i always train my dogs from the first time they go in the trap with a board because i think that like any runner would use blocks to run off to stop there feet from slipping, i use a kickboard for my dogs, all my dogs use the same kickboard, anyway glad you had a good open and i know paul would have made sure everthing was spot on for it,

Jasper what time did your big dog do in its first trial on sunday

I think you will find floor boards were first introduced because of traps having bad floors in them or slippery floors that did not have ribbed rubber and if floors are not good enough and not looked after then you will get a problem. But the traps at Portsmouth are brand new and there wasn't a problem.

shiela magical dreams and the others times would have been faster in my opinion if they had used a kick board :- "

I wasn't disputing that John I know that dogs trap faster with trap boards but Portsmouth will not allow them and we were happy with Portsmouth so we haven't got a problem.

Best Wishes

Sheila

I had a great day at portsmouth track even though its near where i live we never complain about travelling to different venues, when i start complaining about travelling then i wont go, not saying that anyone was complaining, everyone seemed to have a good day, apart from the bang up in the final, my dogs seemed to come out of traps okay and what a time saver it was. good day all round sheila sue

HOW MANY NONE PEDS WAS THERE IN TOTAL ON THE PROGRAM..?

Around 50 off the top of my head  (that is they didn't race off the top of my head :- " )
