A first class open at Thurrock 46 dogs in all which could have been better but was understandable with the temperatures so high and worry over the hard ground, nevertheless some racers did make the journeyto Thurrock and I hope they enjoyed it.

With regard to the track the pick was so wet that you could see the dogs foot marks where slid in. Billy Hughes along with ourselves spent time each day putting the sprinkler on and I am sure if this had not been done the open would have been in jepody.
