Great results of our Epoque of Gentle mind in the Spanish Championship'09 and the Badajoz National Dog Show'09:

In the national Epoque won CAC-BOB-BIG_RBIS and in the Spanish Championship she won the CAC-CACIB-BOB-2BIG. Ch. Sobresalto Swinng Reign won CAC-CACIB dogs, own Mme. Bourdin. Ch. Siprex Xavier won RCACIB dog, own Mr. Carer. Whispering Wave of Gentle Mind won RCAC-RCACIB bitches, own Mr. Raúl Valverde.

No, the mastiff is definitely not a hound. The picture is not "best in group" but "BEST IN SHOW". In Europe sighthounds are a group 10, separate from the hounds.

The Spanish Mastiff (mastin español) is used as a guard dog and is still used in the migration of livestock, especially sheep, from summer pasture to winter pasture return as a defence against wolves. Very few wolves left these days.
