I have been going back through my old Royal Melbourne catalouges. I found this boy in the 1995 cat. Does anyone remember him. I am trying to complete Phoebe's lines on the whippet archive website.

I am also after sire & dam of Moonwind Sweet Music.

Hi Karen, good news because I have the information, thanks to John McLeod sending me a pile of Oz catalogues old and new. I also haunt the Pedigree site trying to stay away from their steadily increasing number of dogs (I have 23,500 pedigrees, but mine deliberately excludes lines that are racing lines and only includes a racing dog if it shows up in a show line).

In a pedigree for Aust.Ch. Moonwind Spica I find out that Moonwind Lady of the Stars was sired by Ch. Speedmon Crusayder out of Moonwind Sweet Music, as you note. Speedmon Crusayder was sired by Nevedith Hot Toddy out of Ch. Speedmon Artemis. And Moonwind Sweet Music was by Ch. Dachlach Bass Solo out of Ch. Moonwind Celebration.

So I think we can both work on the next generation back from that now! I have no one back from there in my program as I am only now working on the dogs down under trying to build the pedigree program for them. Any back catalogues from the 80s or earlier would sure be a boon to work from!

Unfortunately, while I am known from my deep appreciation of Nevedith lines -- we have relied on them for over 20 years as the backbone of our breeding program, and while I thought I had every single Nevedith dog ever bred in my pedigree program Hot Toddy does not show up. So someone needs to help me there. Perhaps Edith Newton herself.

The Whippet Archives site is a gold mine of information. I have had huge fun tracing English lines that were exported to Europe, especially to places such as Germany where, with two World War conflicts in the 20th century exporting English lines to Germany seems to have been almost non-esixtent. And so you see old, old lines from the very early years of whippet registration in England that were used to create 40 or 50 or even more years of purely German lines that ultimately go back to those English lines. It is fascinating to see how whippets developed differently in the Low Countries, the Nordic countries and Germany.

Lanny you are a gem. I had also made the Spica link and had pm'd her owners, but you have been much to quick. Thank you so much.

I am so glad I kept those catalogues. I had no idea when I bought them in 93/94 & 95 that I would be dragging them out again and actually using them.

Here's hoping we now get our answer on Hot Toddy.

By the way Lanny, the Dachlah Bass Solo completed a line (back to Solotown Simeon). I also thought it was interesting to discover Phoebe (Parnew Irish Mist) has 3 of the 7 littermates Dachlah Bass Solo(x2), Tenor Solo and Drum Solo all at around generation 7.

I had Tabaquera's litter sister. Ch. Martinique Mantilla!!!!!!!! (w00t) Please dont go any further back. I just remembered how long ago that was. She was also mated to Mastermind, & still have hanging on the wall a pic taken of one of her pups, Calico Ixia. It was taken on the day that Elvis died. :x
