This may sound like a very silly question, but can anyone out there tell me if running 50metres in 3.2 seconds is "fast"??

May sound weird, but Ive had my x breed for 3 months and thats how fast he can run 50metres.

Thanks to anyone who can answer.

Just to help out that equates to nearly 55 yards? Have you thought of taking him down to a racing club as you'd probably get a better idea and it's great fun whether he's fast or not. :)

My 22" bitch, who is very fast does 250 m in 15.9 secs which is 3.18 secs for 50m, though the shorter the distance the faster the speed for her.

My 19" bitch, who is getting faster now does 250m in 16.8 secs which is 3.36 secs for 50m.

The track record for 250m is 14.8m (for greyhounds) which is 2.96 for 50 m.

So yes. I would say he is fast, but 50m is a very short distance to be running him over so its hard to tell.

When watching my whippet crosses at the track the first half looks significantly faster, though they slow a little for the bends. However the greyhounds at the track seem to speed up as they go round.
