Couldn't have put it better  Spoilt dogs (and children!) in my book are the ones who are allowed to do what THEY want and don't know the meaning of ''no'' and are just generally horrible to have around! :angry:Louise_Simon said:Spoilt dogs to me are those poor dogs that get carried about, treated like children, fed unsuitable diets i.e. chocolate biscuits, curry, chinese take outs, cake etc. stuff humans should have in moderation let alone bought for your pet, and never get to be a dog.
When we got Tina we said no treats, no spoiling her - she was going to be A DOG!!! So, nine weeks down the line, what does she have? FOUR beds, umpteen toys that are changed to avoid boredom on a twice-weekly basis, three/four walks a day, a TINY bit of toast in the morning with me and the run of the house  She has all her own beds and the sofa but still sleeps on the bed with me most of the time :b
The difference is we DO make sure she knows what IS allowed and what isn't. I only let her 'get away' (for want of a better description) with stuff that isn't going to have her becoming a pain to live with or a yobbo on four legs or her thinking she is more dominant than me and Neil She knows her place is Number Three in our household.
Ok, so we give her treats and smother her in kisses and cuddles but isn't that what whippets expect as their due :- "
