On rescue dogs I have here with any kind of itchy patches I use apple cider vinegar diluted with warm water - the dilution depends on how raw and red and open the problem is, how sensitive the dog is, etc. You can start with 3 parts water to one part vinegar. The cider should stop the itching. If it does not, slightly increase the vinegar. It should not be so strong that it stings the dog, - though some dogs can take it straight and it does not bother them at all.
For dogs with mange, ringworm and other parasitic problens, the vinegar not only stops the itching, but also changes the ph balance of the affected area and creates an inhospitable environment for the parasites, so it actually helps aid in getting rid of mange, along with whatever treatment you are giving the dog.
You can also use meno juice, but some dogs LIKE the ACV and actually lick it!
