We keep getting the italian whippet one were has it come from infact we get about 1 a wekk now asking if there italian whippets. We have had a few stand there and tell me there right its whippets cos greyhounds are big  so must have been coned

Hey, we could invent a new breed! You know how you cross labradors with poodles and get a "labradoodle"?

Cross an Italian Greyhound with a Whippet and call them Italian Whippets. Charge about £500 a pup. (Well, it seems to be the going rate for crossbreeds these days. )

I think that judge may have had her own teeth, but was possibly lacking a few brain cells!

I've been asked on several occasions if mine are whippets or lurchers or greyhounds or Italian greyhounds. Then I get asked, "Is that a mummy one with her babies?" "Er, no, they are all boys!" (Which is really quite obvious with a whippet ain't it?")

My best experience was with this old guy who said how much he liked my lovely lurchers. I explained politely that they were whippets, to which he replied, "they are very big for whippets". I then explained that whippets these days were quite a bit bigger than those of yesteryear, and that mine were about average size for the show ring today. He still wasn't convinced saying "Well that red one must have a bit of staffie or something in him?" to which I joyously replied, "Well don't tell the lady who judged at Crufts, she gave him a first!"

Strangely, the old guy was quite quiet after that, and we went on our way!

Makes you giggle

When Hebe (lurcher) was about 8 months old she invaded a football match in our local park :b & despite all my embarrassed shouting wouldn't come back. Amongst other things she was described by one of the players as " A FU**ING HAIRY WHIPPET"

That still makes me laugh now :D

Not sure if this is good enough after reading this thread but I was walking the OH's Japanese type Akita (can't be shown in Japanese Akita Inu classes as the doesn't have the FCI pedigree) and was asked how old my Malamute was.
