Branco Boy is now laid off with badly bruised Gracius due to dog leaning on & bumping for 1st twenty to thirty yards [thats racing for you ] hence his poor run in his next race.[i didnt know at the time] its time these honest dogs were protected a bit more. :rant:

sorry to hear he is injured john,

the only fault of the scotish derby was that there was no middle judge and in my opinion that is a must in one of the top events of the year.

Half way judges should really be at all events ..but its really hard to find people willing to do half way judging

The only problem is dogs are only thrown out for turning their heads which is wrong. They should also be thrown out for deliberate interference, i.e leaning on, bumping etc.

[stopping a dog from running is deliberate interference] the offending dog should be thrown out. I havnt had a proffesional opinion on his injury, i hope its only bruised and not torn.

Its just a shame that an honest dogs racing carreer could be ended by a dodgy dog like this. The dog in question did exactly the same thing in the grade final.

perhaps abit more consistency would help i have owned a dog myself that was always dissqualified when he did something wrong rightly so as in all cases he deserved

to be dissqualified which is the reason he no longer races what i dont understand is why when another dog i own a clean runner he was running on the bends was

shoved all over the track iwas asked by a judge did i want a re-run or let the winning dog which took no part in the barging of my dog stand iagreed to this as my dog was

now injured anyway but was suprised when the offending dog did not get dissqualified as i say could do with a bit more consistency

I think ppl are unwilling to be middle judges as they are not sure what they are looking for. I wouldn't be a middle judge as I would have a few dogs out but because of the way seeding is in place now they are justified in hampering a dog.

Ive seen dogs seeded right run straight up the left hand side until a dog comes to pass on the right hand side, dog then checks right and takes out passing dog, this is not a right hand runner!!!!!

The other problem is no one want the hassle and abuse from dogs owners who dont ever seem to see their own dog doing anything, everyone knows it goes on. Owners shouting at judges when decisions are made, nothing is done about this that is why no one is willing to do the jobs./

Deffinately agree on consistancy :thumbsup: ,but see this as being hard,because different people are judging at different events,and even at one event it amazes me how people can view the same race differently.Like said before it's a must to have halfway judges,as there is no way somebody on the line or at the traps can be expected or relied on to judge something happening half way up the track.

agree with you karen what i forgot to add was in this case there was also a DVD and visits to yhe box made by very expeirienced whippet racers

think this was the only reason one of the judges paid us the curtesy of asking us about the decision
