Hi Bardmand i had a look through the internet and couldnt find any pics of bedlington terrier's with the gutch common or rillington strain in them but i found a really old picture of the old type bedlington (its in black and white)lol, which looks very like the working type bedlington, as you can see the working bedlington is a bit scruffier looking than the show bedlington.

And this is a pic of a show bedlington which is alot neater looking, so there is a difference.

Thanks, Miss Madam! I haven't been able to find any pics of modern working bedlingtons on the Internet either. I guess their breeders/owners don't have that much interest in showing them off :(

You probably guessed by now, but I much prefer the old type. It seems to have a completely different coat texture as well. Are the coats of working bedlingtons trimmed or cut in any way, or are they naturally as short as in the old picture?

Its just like the Bulldog, if you take a look at the old type bulldog you would never guess that it was the bulldog of today, years and years of trying to achive the perfect show dog can in time change it's look, which unfortunately in some cases it might not be a good change.

but some people have probably kept the old type bedlington and have kept the working strain in them instead of trying to achieve the perfect looking dog which is probably why they differ, im not really sure as i have never had a pedigree bedlington.

as for triming, i would say the working bedlington probably would still have to get trimmed, obviously not as professionally done as the show type. most bedlington lurchers even need trimmed and they arent even full bedlingtons! lol

As for thier owners showing them off on the internet, im not sure why they dont, they are probably just happy enough if they are working well without having to show them off, but you would most likely see them being shown in terrier shows at lurcher and terrier events across the UK.

Hope ive been of help to you. :)
