She's really enjoying her critter cam. She'll get🖥️ eyes 🤭
Don't worry she only gets a few minutes at a time. The cover I devised for the laptop keyboard heats the laptop up very quickly, so I keep each session under 5 minutes. ;)

Her chin is already responding to the coconut oil and the lump of acne has opened up/draining and clearing up already. I will do the treatment twice a day for 3 more days after today, 7 days in total.
Yesterday should have been the last application and it feels mostly cleared up, but not completely, so I think I'll continue on to make it 10 full days.

Her weight remains stable at 6 lbs 15 1/2 ounces. She eats every meal I give her. She plays almost every night, though sometimes it is a challenge to find the Game she wants.

I have made huge progress in the 'kissy cat' agenda. She never really initiates, but she's been known to lean in when I start! I am still wary of getting punched in the face though lol. I am so happy about that. I never realized, until after Mazy cat left us, that Queen Eva isn't a kissy cat. I've always had at least one, until suddenly I didn't. It took me over a year after Mazy cat left to realize, and I've been trying to rectify that by encouraging Queen Eva for the last 2 years.

Oh Dear. Queen Eva gave me one of those ideal moments, pee and a poop just at the right time, so I took the opportunity to trim her nails, which were slightly overdue. I'd been putting it off because of the chin treatment, but I had to seize the moment (I always make sure she is 'empty' because of a mishap many years ago), because her claws are starting to get caught in things. It takes less than 3 minutes, but she screams the house down (from inside her towel wrap) while I'm doing it, and my ears are still ringing. However, in her favor I have opted to skip the morning chin treatment, so there is that. :)

Here she is just now sitting with her back to me so I know what disgrace I am, instead of up here on the desk with me as she usually is. YOu can tell by her ears, she is listening to every movement of mine lol...

Ahh..even as I was typing that she's gone to my chair to make a Burrow for herself. I have taken some video of her process and will post it shortly.

Here's the video mentioned above. Really I was remiss in not putting her bed back the way it is supposed to be, after I used the chair last. Poor thing, in another forum, now defunct, I would have twice been put into Critter Chat Jail today for these transgressions. I was planning to watch a movie later today, but I must resign myself to watching it from the couch.

Then and now...Queen Eva always finds a way to keep her bum warm on a chilly morning be it a warm hand or a warm coffee cup...this one from very long ago..she was about 1 then I think, and this morning, the new version....(she isn't greasy, but she's getting coconut oil on her chin for chin acne and it kind of spreads all over her)

It did get a bit cliquey for a few years, I remember, now that you mention it. Almost as bad as TCS! These days I don't really know what to think. I felt ignored most of the time so I gave up posting about Queen Eva. Though I did get a lot of support when Mazy cat went through her last days in March/April 2022, so there is that.
TCS is a complete **** hole, the staff there are power tripping, in my experience

I'm glad here exists

I had a vet like that once. He was a dog vet through and through. He kept telling me my 13 year old cat was "old" and I had to expect that she would start failing now. All because she had a little arthritis! I never went back to him. I put her on cosequin for cats which helped tremendously for a good number of years and she went on to enjoy 4 1/2 more happy good quality of life years. She did end up having other problems, megacolon, CKD, high blood pressure, hyperthyroid, she couldn't tolerate the medicines for either the HBP or the hyper-t, so ultimately she had several strokes (two of which she recovered from). And her arthritis did eventually advance beynd what cosequin could do for her. But that was all well into her future.

I know Tigger has suspected dementia and is losing her sight, but she still has, based on what you share, a very good quality of life. Focus on continuing that as long as you can. She isn't ready to kick off yet.

What kind of cockamamie diagnosis is that? Perhaps it's time for a new vet who has more understanding of senior cats and their problems.
I can't switch my other cat Willow to a different vet unfortunately

She has a bite history with vets, which is one reason I have to stay with the vets I use

To be fair to her, her bite history is more like scared warning nips but when faced with a new vet she does get terrified

Tigger loves literally everyone, but even with her, would her dementia affect how she takes to new vets?

But it's Tigger we're talking about here, not Willow! Many people use more than one vet. It's doable. Anyway I'm not trying to talk you into anything, if it's not something you want to pursue, just letting you (and anyone else who may read this thread) know you have choices.

But I hope you will disregard that diagnosis and just concentrate on taking care of Tigger. It's just easier with a supportive vet that's all. I switched to another vet in the practice after that bozo told me to give up on Ootay and she helped me keep my little Ootay Princess going happy and comfortable until she was almost 18.

Incidentally Ootay was the cat who sent me Queen Eva. Queen Eva came straight from heaven, 14 months after Ootay left us.

Is it not a matter of context though? I can't remember how old Tigger is, but older cats/dogs/people are likely to be less lively - but still, of course, have a good life. My cat was certainly old and tired for his last couple of years, he lived till almost 23.

So unless I've misunderstood, the vet may have been saying 'There's nothing wrong with her apart from her age and poss dementia, but she's still living a good life and may continue to do so for some time' rather than 'She's old and tired, maybe we should call it a day.'

I know it's doable, I figured it makes more sense to have both use the same vet

We do all suspect Tigger is older than what the RSPCA got told, the vets have said her back legs are much weaker than they would expect to see in a 13 year old, there is another good vet nearby but they are further away, I'm thinking life threatening emergency would be better to use the closest good vet

Only other vet I know about in this area don't listen to pet owners. Boy cat Tom years ago he was a bitter and I warned them he bit, as in proper bite, and advised they wore gloves - "he won't bite me" you guessed it - *chomp* I switched from them for that

Well, maybe so. We weren't there of course, so can't know for sure, unless more was said than what has been reported. My knee jerk reaction of course is based on my experience. Vet telling me to give up because my cat was 13 and had a little arthritis.

I agree, that's terrible. It's natural that animals, just like humans, will have to adapt and adjust to different lifestyles as they get older, but they can still thoroughly enjoy life despite the odd aches and pains. And of course, there's plenty of medications that can help with pain relief when needed.
