glad i,m not the only one Janfiers, the exhibitor with her boxer was terrible for baiting, why can't they just stand naturally and alert.janfiers said:It wouldn't be the first time, that I've picked up the bait/toy whatever and handed it back to the exhibitor and asked if they would stop doing it as it was putting my dog off. Totally agree that it is unnecessary. You can still learn from it though and try and ensure that you don't end up next to a heavily baited dog, even if it means you being one end and them the other.
good for the Judge and good for Badger :thumbsup:JAX said:many years ago , Badger was in for Best in Show and I was next to a boxer who was being heavily baited . The owner was throwing stuff every where . ! we were both shortlistd and then she started throwing stuff right in front of Badger to put him off  luckily the judge saw this , came over to her and asked her to leave the ring :- " for being unsportsmanly ,and Badger got BEST in SHOW
Here,Here Lana, well said :thumbsup:aslan said:I don't understand the need to throw the bait! If you trained the dog properly you wouldn't need to throw the bait in the ring.Lots of people bait in Australia and very few throw it around whilst in the ring, most just put their hand in their pocket or hold the bait in their hands in front of the dog. The only time people usually throw bait is when you are coming back to a stand from your triangle and the judge wants the dog to free stand, some people throw bait on the ground then - but most will then pick it up before they head back to their place in the line.
Throwing it around willy nilly and not picking it up is very bad form IMO. Should not be allowed.
