I'm not fooling myself OR trying to fool others, this is the way I feel, it's MY and only MY opinion, I'm not speaking for anyone else other than myself!

Heather even said in the program that the dogs and cats are PETS they are not farmed, I don't eat cows or sheep that are SKINNED alive, our law WON'T allow that, they are shot right between the eye's and die instantly, they are NOT mistreated.

this is my view, my opinion.

My apologies Tina, i re-read my post & it did sound harsh, it wasnt directed personally at you.

Thing is unless you have seen footage of abbattoires, they are NOT all killed humanely, many strung up whilst still alive with their throats cut, left bleeding to death.

Sometimes you can be lulled in to a false sense of security

thank you for explaining that to me Nina, as proberly alot of other people don't know what goes on in a slaughter house either including me!

I did however watch a RSPCA training program once that had students goto a slaughter house and have to kill a cow, that's all I have known and thought that, that's the way they all do it, and had no other reason not to beleive it wasn't done like that.

Unfortunately i know a guy from the local area who works in a slaughter house & he has gone into great detail about EXACTLY what happens & i must add he takes GREAT enjoyment in just how they suffer, infact seems to "get off on it"

I just wish theyhad had more stringent policies on the people they hire to do this job :(

ive read about quite a few serial killers who worked in abbatoirs.as long as they worked there they were ok.when they were fired they then turned to torturing/killing people.it seems like a lot of the men who work there do get immune to the animals fear and pain.they also seem to enjoy the brutality of it all.i also know what goes on in abbatoirs,my ex son in law worked in one for a short time :- "

seems like a lot of double standards, doesn't it?

Well, i would hope there was a differnce in keeping something & caring for it PROPERLY as a pet to farming something just for its fur OMHI.

me too Nina, but did you see how well looked after the mink were on that farm? they were fat, healthy, happy to get picked up and stroked and checked, he cared alot for his animals as he has to have them in tip-top shape, plus he said they are gassed humanely when the time comes, but saying that we only have his word.

I know what you are saying BUT anyone in my books who can breed & kill animals for financial gain NO MATTER how they say they die is worth DIDDLY & i dont beleive thaey really care how they die.

I decided I would not be able to watch the programme having seen previous documentaries that will haunt me forever. :(

It needs high profile people like the McCartneys to bring these barbaric trades to an end, so all credit to them for this programme.

Unfortunately Kris you are absolutely right, it seems to go with the territory, a certain type of "person" actually enjoys this job!

yep!not that im saying my ex son in law is a nutcase or anything of course! :- " o:)

Havnt watchd this yet, have taped it as I thought it was someting I needed to see. Personally I think most on here are basically animal lovers who dont like to ponder too much on how our shoes are made and our meat is farmed. All respect to the veegans because if you REALLY care about animals, you would be unable to eat them without question. I wish in many ways that I could follow this etihic and I wonder if more programmes were showed on National TV such as this would I not find it more simple to do so?

I didn't watch the program but heard about it on the radio earlier today. I couldn't believe the McCartney's had met a well known music star wearing a POLAR BEAR fur coat. A polar bear, that is just beyond belief

I couldn't watch it either. I turned it on at one point and saw an animal being pulled from it's cage by the tail and it being battered by the head on concrete and I had to immediately turn over it made me feel sick to the stomach and by the sounds of things it got much much worse. It is beyond belief how any human being could inflict such pain and cruelty against ANY animal. I just hope they get there come uppances one way or another

I watched this programme and found it totally barbaric and I wish the McCartneys ever success in their attempts to ban fur - particularly dog and cat fur from China. The images shown of the dogs and cats in China were horrendous and if this does not get the trade stopped then nothing will - it made me cry for ages and I felt totally sick that such barbaric, pointless and utter brutality is allowed to go on in China (and in other countries come to that). The GSD being skinned was something I will never forget and the way the crates jam packed with cats and dogs were thrown from the back of the lorry was beyond words. I can not believe that there are such wicked and heartless people in China who could carry out such acts - I understand that not everyone sees dogs and cats as we do on here (I can't say in Britain as as we all know there are some wicked B******s in this country) but this trade in fur MUST be stopped. I felt so helpless after this programme - I want to do something to stop these animals suffering, but where do you start?

I just couldn't bring myself to watch the programme as I would have found it to upsetting.

Nor have I ever had any desire to travel to places like China & Japan due to this.

Every country kills animals but they could at the very least make their end quick & as painless as possible!

Did they say how the general public could help them on their quest to get this stopped???

I know we could all stop buying goods from China etc, but is there a petition or a website where we could log our disgust?

They should NOT be able to treat animals in this cruel barbaric way

I wish the McCartneys success in their attempts to this! :luck: :luck: :luck:

My thoughts exactly Emily.

When I opened my eyes this morning, all I could think about was this appalling trade.

I remembered the pitiful look on the face of that poor dog tied up in a sack. As the sack got untied he looked up for compassion and got a hefty smack in the face.

The Chinese have a diabolical reputation because of their brutality towards all animals.

What a horrible part of our world.

I didn't even consider watching it :( head in the sand maybe and I know what goes on but still don't want to see it :(

I'm afraid i couldn't watch something like that either - there's some images i don't want playing over and over in my head. i made the mistake of following a link that someone had posted on here a few weeks back - someone was looking for evidence of cruelty to dogs for a homework assignment i think, and i clicked on one of the links that got posted in reply.

what i saw traumatised me for days............

I was out last night and didn't see this programme but like the previous comment, did see some video footage of this a while ago which was absolutely horrifying and I couldn't get those terrible images out of my head, still can't in fact. :( :(

If anyone wants to sign Heather Mills McCarney's petition, here is the link. Good on the pair of them for bringing this appalling cruelty to peoples attention and trying to do something to stop it. :luck:

I agree Leslie. I have recorded this programme but after seeing some comments here, I dont think it would be wise for me to watch it now.

Many thanks for posting the web address for the petition.

I have already printed off my two letters and signed the petition. I am also sending the link to all of my email contacts in the hope that more people will sign it.

I know it's not much but anything that might help is worth ago!

I've sent mine too - it's not much to do but I hope it helps in some way - these poor animals need help NOW - its is a barbaric situation they are in and this is no way to be treating animals in this day and age. The Chinese are renowned for their harsh treatment of animals and their disgusting/stone age ideas of eating cats and dogs etc but to skin an animal alive? I have to say I would like to take the people responsible for this and skin them alive so they can suffer the extreme pain caused - I would then shut them in a tiny cage and throw them off the back of a lorry. These inhumans are total and utter B******S.

I hadn't noticed the letters :b - I have now also printed these off and emailed loads of people with the details, the more they get flooded with these letters the better. It is such a small thing to do but in great numbers hopefully it might make a difference.
