Well thats all tosh innit. Dont owners of other breeds get their dogs kennelled/insured etc? And I cant remember ever paying anyone to groom my whippet!

That was in the Daily Mail a few weeks ago (there are some more threads on here about it when it first came out). It is SUCH lazy journalism, isn't it - how on earth do they arrive at a figure of £576.00+ for annual grooming costs for a whippet? My other breed is Tibetan Terriers and although they require a lot of grooming (specially for a show coat) and TT owners love to come home from shows with yet another type of shampoo or grooming product (!) it probably took me years to spend that amount on grooming TTs. I've never spent £576.00 a year on TT grooming either (nowhere near, my husband would divorce me! LOL ... although on 2nd thoughts ... !!)
Certainly over the 7 years since I bought my first Whippet, I have spent next to nothing on Whippet grooming.
Makes you wonder who they asked and what they imagine we actually DO to spend that amount of money!! LOL.

Well, exactly!! :lol: :lol: :lol: I mean, if you had a coated breed which you couldn't groom yourself and you sent it to a groomer every 6 or 8 weeks @ about £50 a time (I've no idea if that's correct btw cos I don't use a grooming parlour), then that would rattle up a few hundred pounds a year.
I can understand about the vets' fees, possibly (broken bones or whatever) ... But a whippet's grooming bill?? what would they do for £576? bath it in Chanel No 5?? :lol: :lol: :lol:
