Molly, is the Scruples Rescue whippet. There are threads about her and the pups on the whippet section above and below this topic post.Jinnyfizz (Jane) TrishG and Metalchicken (Annie) have all been involved in her plight and subsequent rescue. She gave birth to 6 puppies yesterday. :D

Just noticed that you have found them. The puppies will be looking for a home in 8 - 10 weeks time (If Jane can bear to part with them  ). Some nice wee boys (hint hint)
Oh bless her, I will have a nose through the threads about Molly. The puppies sounds wonderful, soooooooooooooo very tempting I must admit - thank you for thinking of me - you must be all so proud of Molly ;)

Just thought I'd add here that Scruples is keeping a list of all who enquire after Molly's pups, but as they are still only 2 days old as yet that is all we are doing. Please feel free to enquire but we're not making any promises to anyone yet
Annie x

Quite right, Annie

It is VERY early days yet for little Leo, Aire, Bay, Ash and Amy but, even so, we have had several enquiries from people asking if there may be a possibility of homing one of them. This is so heartwarming  but there has been no decision made about the age these pups will leave Scruples in Devon (although it certainly won't be before they are 9 weeks old due to their completing their vaccinations before they go). All potential homes will be home checked and the puppies will be homed in the most secure and loving homes available

The majority of information about Molly and her pups can be found on the K9 threads (thank you for pointing Rebecca towards these, Eve) and also on Scruples Whippet Rescue facebook page and the blog http://scrupleswhippetrescue.blogspot.com/

I should point out that these puppies are not pure whippets - they are carrying a minor proportion of greyhound blood in them as well

Scruples Whippet Rescue Trustees are myself, Jane Wood, together with Annie Cholewa, Becka Abbott and Gillian Law. Between us we manage the day to day running of Scruples with very welcome support from a myriad of helpers across the UK - in the case of Molly, it was Trish who went to get her and fostered her before passing her over to Becka for her onward journey to me in Devon :D

And let's not forget who originally spotted the advert offering poor Molly for sale when she was heavily in whelp ....... it was Alison (Hula on K9)!!

We all have alot to thank you for, Alison :huggles:

Sorry for rambling on a bit  suffering from severe sleep deprivation at the mo  ......... things have gone a bit off topic here as the thread is not about Molly or Scruples but I feel that anything posted on K9 (as an open forum) should be correct so that's why I've put this post up :D

I'll just reiterate what I said in my original post on this topic ....... Good luck with your decision-making, Rebecca!!! :luck: :huggles:
Thanks Jane

If it had been up to me I would have got Molly myself but I have an OH who would not allow me to do that .

I had to fight long and hard to get the dogs I have .

Anyway Molly and her pups are in the best place now
I'm thinking of getting Paul McKenna to hypnotise my other half ... "she can have more whippets ... she can have more whippets ... she can have LOTS more whippets ..."

After he has been to your OH he can come and see mine (w00t)

Great to have more info about the rescue side of things - you are all doing such a grand job, plus finding the perfect homes for the pups isn't easy I wouldn't have thought.

I have had a look on epupz and yes the 6 month old fawn girl is stunning (thanks for the tip ;) )- now after thinking I should go for another boy after your advice, I'm now looking at a little girl

My OH is warming to getting a third dog as he knows its probably the best thing to do, its now just making that big decision and going for it - how exciting (w00t)

It is scary looking on these sites, there are SO many whippets compared to almost 5 years ago when I got Rifle! I should stop looking but I find myself drawn to them. One I saw today was advertising the most beautiful 18 month old girl, my biggest worry is that these poor dogs end up in the wrong hands, used for breeding etc as a means of making money, rather than just having a dog to love! :(

I agree completely. That is how I got Lilly. The chap was also selling her two 1 year old bitch pups but he wanted a huge amount for them. I did not have £1,200 + neutering and other costs to spend on rescuing 3 breeding age whippets from the clutches of unscrupuous breeders. Lilly the pups mother had the better pedigree and was only 4 and so terribly frightened and nervous that I chose her. I still torment myself knowing that the two little 1 year old girls were sold to a chap in the Manchester area. The seller did not even take his details

I just pray that they went to a loving family home. Young unspeyed bitches sold on these sites are so vulnerable and even with the best intentions of the sellers to find a loving family home some must end up being used for puppy farming  .

At least the young dogs do not have that future in store for them. I just wish I could win the lottery and help more little girlies.

Rebecca, someone wanting the best possible home for their girl might let you have her on trial for a week or two to see how she settles and how things go with your two dogs and the children (just a thought :D ).

If more people were like Rebecca, asking questions, seeking advice as to what is right for their situation, looking into the long term and seeing having a dog, or adding to their canine family as a lifelong commitment then maybe there would be fewer dogs in rescue situations.... oh for an ideal world!!!

Eve that is a great idea - I was hoping if I did go for another dog/bitch around 18months to meet on a walk so its all neutral ground and go from there. Having a trial would be lovely but I doubt I'll be that lucky plus once the next dog comes into our home I wouldn't be able to part with it!!!! but seriously with out dogs and kids a trial is a smashing idea :)

Lal you are lovely, just want to do what is right for our family and like you say having a whippet is for life. I did look on epupz and see two bitches which have been neutered so that might be a way forward and aren't too far away from where I live. Will let you know what happens but we may wait a little while before getting another, although I'm ready now he he!!!!

Are you any futher forward in the search for your new addition to the pack. Interested to know how things are going

Hi Eve,

I have look on a few sites and there are loads of whippets of all ages looking for new homes, its unreal.

I've chatted to my OH and we are waiting at the moment (think my OH thinks 3 whippets will be too many but we will see, I haven't given up yet!), I would love one now, but Rocky is now lame on his front leg from having a blast, he forgets he's 12 and its been two weeks and after seeing the vet and taking painkillers/anti-inflamitry tablets he's still no better so we are going to get him well first. So at the moment I am walking Bailey on his own and it feels so weird walking one whippet, I'm driving to places where more people walk their dogs so he can meet up and have a play with other dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we do get another addition I will for sure post it and pics of course :)

Vets bills are always a consideration (in addition to managing young children!) A lot of the preloved are very used to children as they have been bought as puppies and then families find they either loose interest, cannot manage or the are short of funds and the dog has to go. I hope that Rocky is better soon (poor love). I will watch for your news.

My poor OH does not have a lot of say but we have no children of our own. My sons are grown up so he just regards another rescue as a fact of life ;)

Anyway, Bella who has just joined us (whippet no 5) is an absolute angel and no one could fail to love her

I have seen one on Epupz and I would drive and get her now as she is gorgeous, 2 years old and from reading details would be a wonderful addition but thats me dreaming at the moment. I do completely understand where my other half is coming from as our two are smashing together but I would dearly love to give another whippet a home!!

Well done you getting your own way, very impressed, may have to get a few tips from you he he!!!! :teehee: Over the moon your little Bella has settled in soooooooo well, she must be in her element and lovely she has so much company - magical :)

When your significant other is ready, there will be the right dog there for you. Do not get youeself upset looking on E pupz if the time is not yet right. It is heartbreaking and I no longer look...........

There is always some poor dog for sale through no fault of its own.

My situation is diffferent from yours, my children are grown up, my husband works long hours and I am at home all day as I work from home. Three is quite a jump from two and your husband is right to be cautious. Leads get tangled, you need even more eyes in the back of your head, and you have children to watch over as well. etc, etc, etc

I find the jump from 4 - 5 quite major!

Having said that I imagine that at 12 Rocky is fairly sedate and mature and that now would be a good time before he gets too old to cope with a youngster. It is really up to what you and your family can manange.

Best wishes

whatever you decide

there is a 7month old black boy on brighton gumtree
I hadn't thought of looking on gumtree - thank you. When we decide to go ahead and get another I will have a look, but I think as Eve has said, best I don't look until we are definately agreed to get another :)

You are sooooooooooooo right Eve about looking on line at whippets, not doing me any good. Rocky still lame but is doing well otherwise and is extremely laid back, enjoys sunbathing and only enjoys walks when there is something to chase! Bailey just enjoys life and all the walks and is doing so well going out on his own which is smashing.

Will keep you uptodate if anything changes. I bet going from 4 to 5 dogs is quite a change but a wonderful one :) I'll be like you I think once my boys have grown up he he!!!

I'm glad it's not just me who gets herself all upset when they are foolish enough to look on these rehoming sites - I just beat myself up something rotten and become quite grumpy with poor Neil because, to me, we have an empty flat, oodles of love needing direction and miles of beaches just itching for a whippie :b

We found Diva on Preloved and the only thing 'wrong' with her was her obsession with hunting rabbits  She'd previously belonged to a gamekeeper for the first 5 years or so of her life so it was ingrained into her....yet Tina, being from a pet home, wasn't bothered about chasing things....she just wanted to run on the beach and play with other dogs (sometimes wonder if she was EVER let off the lead in her previous home  ).

Neil HAS finally come around to the idea of another whippet (or two!) and IF we can just be patient enough the plan is to wait until March 2011 ('just' 10 months!) and then get our hounds........but knowing how soft we both are if the right girl or boy comes up we'd never say no

Ah, your Neil is a star, just like my Tony, he may have reservations but is a big softie at heart :D

Its amazing how all whippets are so different. Some just love playing with other whippets, chasing balls, to others that just love the chase especially when a bunny appears - certainly keeps them fit and burns off the energy like nothing else he he!!!!
