Any recommendation for third-party only dog insurance, please? It used to be included in our household insurance but we've changed policies.

I've been through a couple of comparison sites but though they talk about third party liability, they only seem to offer policies that pay out either for illness, or vet fees if your dog has an accident. I don't want either of them, I just want insurance for if he causes an accident, e.g. if he managed to run into the road and cause a traffic accident.

If you become a member of the Dogs Trust they give you 3rd party insurance as part of the package. I don't know how it compares with others though.

I have accident cover for my lot from PDSA for third party liability and £2,000 accident cover £7.59 a month per dog...it also covers them in case they cause an accident

I really don't want that bit... OK, it's not as if it would break the bank if I had to have it, but to date, it would still be nearly £1000 spent whereas we'd rather run the risk of forking out if he did have an accident. I suspect that costed properly, third-party only would be so cheap that the administative costs would be disproportionately high, which is why it seems it's always bundled in with something else.

Here in NL everyone has a family 3rd party insurance. It covers children and pets.. my neighbours son burnt down a barn ,,, all paid by the insurance..
It only costs a few pounds but the peace of mind is well worth it.
