I just have to share something with you guys - i know you will understand although its not about my whippets for a change!
i have a 6 year old borzoi bitch called princess - i rescued her from a home where she was kept in a 3 foot run for the first 3 years of her life - when she came to me she lay in the corner of whichever room i was in with her tail between her legs - she had not been socialised and was afraid of life itself.
gradually over the past three years she has grown in confidence - from having a lead on at first to going for a short walk then further with me and the others.
even off lead she would leave my left side - nudging me with her nose to remind me she was still there.
in all this time i have not seen her run free - not once.
shes such a poppet and so grateful for cuddles and love - she lets you know.
but this morning - i will NEVER forget it - after a short game between us in a lovely big field close to my house she gathered up her bravado and ran - not just a trot but a full gallop far far away and round in a huge circle , then back to me panting and smiling!
thats what im here for - to give them happiness and the freedon they deserve - like so many of you on here i live for my dogs and to see this happen today has made it all so worthwhile.
i cried real tears in the middle of the field and wished i could bottle the feeling - knowing she was truly a happy dog.
