I just have to share something with you guys - i know you will understand although its not about my whippets for a change!

i have a 6 year old borzoi bitch called princess - i rescued her from a home where she was kept in a 3 foot run for the first 3 years of her life - when she came to me she lay in the corner of whichever room i was in with her tail between her legs - she had not been socialised and was afraid of life itself.

gradually over the past three years she has grown in confidence - from having a lead on at first to going for a short walk then further with me and the others.

even off lead she would leave my left side - nudging me with her nose to remind me she was still there.

in all this time i have not seen her run free - not once.

shes such a poppet and so grateful for cuddles and love - she lets you know.

but this morning - i will NEVER forget it - after a short game between us in a lovely big field close to my house she gathered up her bravado and ran - not just a trot but a full gallop far far away and round in a huge circle , then back to me panting and smiling!

thats what im here for - to give them happiness and the freedon they deserve - like so many of you on here i live for my dogs and to see this happen today has made it all so worthwhile.

i cried real tears in the middle of the field and wished i could bottle the feeling - knowing she was truly a happy dog.

I don't have words to express how happy that makes me feel, Abbie :huggles:

I think I've just got to say ......

"Today is the first day of the rest of Princess' life"

What i love so much about dogs is that they put their trust in you and even though its taken three years for this very special girl to free herself from her past gremlins it was worth the wait this morning when i turned to see her "out there" running free like she should be.

i was actually shocked at first - i thought she was running away from something - but no she was doing a big breakthrough circle for me - so lovely!!!!!

you guys are really special in sharing your understanding and caring thoughts with me even though weve not met each other.

i will put a pic up of her soon so you can see how lovely she is

thanks ever so much

xx

here she is - my special "princess"
