Has anyone got any advice on ticks!!! Lester semms to attract them like a magnet.

What are the best way to remove the little blighters.

can you lessen his attraction for them.

Poor Lester not very nice for him. :( With the ferrets we would put vinegar on the tick and it should come out, but if you try to pull it out you could leave the head in which could fester. :luck:

We don't want no festering on Lester !

Our rabbit used to get them and I picked up a really handy little plastic implement from the vets after asking their advice - you put it over the body of the tick and then twist it around a couple of times which then unleashes the tick's jaws and it comes clean off! Worked great for rabbits, should imagine it would be the same for whippies. :luck:

Try One Spot or similar it worked for our dogs when we were at our caravan there were sheep in the fields next to it and all you do is put it onto the nape of your dogs neck and it spreads all over and it kills the ticks  they are nasty things and the thought of one of the dogs taking one into the caravan and it dropping of and then latching on to one of us is just :x :x :x

Hope this helps you can get it at any pet store :D

They are horrible little critters..... (w00t)

I use tick tweezers! :) Get's them out without leaving any nasty bits to fester :x

Advantix Spot On Repells ticks as well as treating for fleas.

Nasty, nasty things. We have them round here from the deer - the first time I walked through the long grass in our garden I got one on my leg. I'm always careful to wear wellies if walking through areas where I know there are numbers of deer. Don't think the dog's ever picked one up oddly, although the cat has a few times.

Frontline will also work for ticks as well as fleas.

Thanks for the advice..... I will go shopping at the Vets to see what potions they can come up with

Cover them in Vaseline it suffocates them within a couple of days and they drop off without leaving their pincher's inside the dog which causes infection.

:x evil little monsters :x a couple of months ago, the back of my neck felt a bit itchy. went to scratch, as you do, and felt a little lump. thought it might have been a splat of plaster, so dragged it off, and it was a tick :x :x :x god knows where i picked it up :x

probably in ur bed with all the dogs   (w00t)

Try wiping the dog over wiv a very mild solutionof TCp, they can stand the smell.
