Just been reading on the internet about good tips for stopping dogs becoming bored.

They ranged from Kongs, treat balls/bottles and interactive toys. Freezing gravy with veggies in that they can lick bit by bit. Clam sand pits with toys burried in the sand and water in the other half to play in.

Wondered if anyone has any home made tips? :)

I have discovered that mine are never happier than when they are destroying something so the 2 things mine like are: (w00t)

Stuff all their toys and chews in a cereal box, they love to pull them out and rip up the box.

Stuff brown paper wrapped around a few little dog biccies into a cardboard tube (Those long gift wrap ones are great) and leave them to find the treats and tear everything up.

a nice juicy bone from the butchers

Those are great tips Linbin. I will give those a try

We have some interactive toys - a plush dinosaur and a crocodile that have an opening for squeaky eggs to go in, and also a log with squeaky squirrels inside. The dogs go bonkers for them if you hide a few bits of kibble inside or a tripe stick along with the squeakers.

We also rent a room to a friend of ours who is a butcher and he is the best thing in the world to keep the dogs from being bored. He works shifts so he is home all day, takes them on walks and of course brings them endless bones. I highly recommend having an in-house butcher to keep dogs entertained!

I was going to ask where you got your dinosaur and squeaky eggs from too, the pups would love them.

I would like to give them bones but everytime I go to the vet he says ominously "you don't give them bones do you".

Is it really alright to give them? Is there a certain kind you have to get? and how do you stop it becomming a massacre between all of them.

I live with an in-house butcher....doesn't help us-Lol we're all bored senseless-

Barney keeps breaking his leg-he's that bored....loves the meccano set they keeping fitting on it- 8)

you should never give the cooked bones as the cooking procese makes them brittle and splinter but raw bones are fine I freeze mine first to thaw them and give them the dogs they love them indy had her fisrt one at 7 weeks old it was bigger then her

Bluebell loves to have her toy box filled up so she can rummage through and find what she would like to play with and scatter them all over the house again - she hasn't learnt to tidy up very well yet though

She also has a large hollow bone and a kong that I stuff with whatever is about, leftover veg, slice of bread, peanut butter, sardines...

But if I'm there she's never bored, we're either out walking or she's recovering from a walk :D
