Such a shame that Fiona is such a distance away.

I hope another wonderful home is offered closer by or by someone who can collect Archie if this doesn't work out :huggles:

Just to let you know that me and fiona are trying to sort out meeting half way. I wavered there for a moment but when I think of what Fiona can offer Archie can manage a day's travel to get to a home which is perfect for him. Will let you know how we get on.

Best of Luck - I'm sure it can be worked out and Fiona sounds just perfect for Archie :huggles: :huggles:

2 of my pups went a fair way frome me , both approx 3 1/2 hours or so away , one was 8 weeks and fynn was 11 weeks , both threw up at the start of the journey :- " but slept the rest of the way , they were tired that night but soon found there feet the next day :D

so although the journey was a long one they went with there new owners all the way and were fine . dont worry too much about the distance but i do agree its better if you can do it between you so he isnt as stressed

Newcastle to Edinburgh is about 2 1/2-3 hours,,,Did this drive god know how many time's over the last 20 odd yrs (w00t)

A pup will do fine over this distance

Can you's not meet about half way,,pay fuel costs,,say,,Haggerston Castle area,,or Berwick  .

Most of the pups I have bought over the 20 odd yrs have came from England :- " ,,Colt came from Southhampton (sp),,,very far south (w00t) ,,,but most came from Nottingham area,,I went and got them  ,,,yep a long way, but the pups all survived the car journey as us too

Hope you can work something out  :luck:

i have offered to do some driving..........should be fun as i don't usually do motorways :- "

surely the owner and intended owner can go half way or pay a courier doesnt bode well for the dog if the commitment/finances are poor to start with, i have travelled 100's of miles for the right pup, someone has already posted a courier's name and number maybe the intended owner should contact him and get someone experienced and reliable, what happens if someone takes this dog say to Carlise and the next person does not turn up?

Bless you - that is really good of you..hope all goes well.... & hope ickle Archie travels OK xx

I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who has offered support in difficult circumstances. It is much appreciated.

I would also like to say that some people seem to have taken great pleasure in criticising and making this even harder - why would you do that?

good luck to little Archie and his new family :luck: ignore all the negative comments some people thrive on putting others down. Sure Archie is bound to be a little bewildered but he'll soon settle down :huggles:

some people just like to put the boot in . hope all turns out well and good luck for the future   :luck: :luck:

So pleased to hear that it is all sorted. :huggles:

I do hope my comments did not offend, only sharing my advice on my own experiences.

couldnt of put it better myself

well done to those that did offer help with travel  if you had of needed to use 2 or 3 people, im positive he would have been in good hands and none the worse for his adventure

looking forward to seeing piccys when he is all settled in

I have not noticed anybody putting a boot in; just few wise people concerned about the pup's well being.

The easiest would be to put him on a plane. Is there any reason why that would not be feasible?

Good luck with the journey and re-homing. It's obvious you only want the best home for your boy, and have made your decision. :luck:

I think some folk were more concerned about the relaying of young dog (being passed from one car to another before finally reaching final new owner) rather than the distance concerned.

If you're travelling up the M74 then I can highly recommend these services (Annandale) for a rest break. There's a large field and pond, really pleasant for a quick comfort break for the dogs (on lead of course :- " ). They have a Costa coffee too...great for waking yourself up with :)

I've not looked properly at which route is being taken, so sorry if this isn't the one.

This is just one day in a dog's life, to get him to a home where he will be loved forever and will soon forget the journey. I can't believe some people have made Archie's current owner think twice about this opportunity and made his (hopefully) new owner feel guilty, especially given what a horrible decision they've had to make to part with a member of their family. Of course it's not ideal but it's not the end of the world either.

Would they rather the dog ended up with someone unsuitable around the corner, just so he didn't have the journey? None of the people on here would treat a dog like a parcel, it's insulting to say so. He would maybe have two or three changes? If he stays in the same crate with his own blankets and stuff he'll be ok. There are much worse things happening in the world concerning animal transport and look at the way we ship zoo animals and competing animals all over the place. I honestly think some people look for things to get riled about :(

Good Luck :luck:

:huggles: Oh how exciting - wish you all the best and enjoy your new gorgeous whippet. Hope the journey goes well for the little man, so pleased :huggles: Thinking of you all :D

Thanks for the advice - I think it maybe one that Fiona could use - any recommendations for first part of journey? I have a good look on that weblink thanks again

Have just looked and their are recommendations for Tebay services - this is where we are hoping to meet so Archie could have a good walk and get to know fiona before he has to go with her. he is very food orientated and I'm sure it will be love at first sight if she brings a tasty treat with her!

Can anyone recommend any good travel sickness remedies or should I phone the vet and see if he could help? Archie is fine for a while but then gets queasy.
