Hi, I am a newbie here.

 

can any one give em ideas on how to keep my 8 yr old terrier calm on a journey he loves the car but get all coughy and gags.We have a soft harness and I sit in back with him.We have the chance to go to out laws caravan for next few weekends,I dont want him to miss out on all those sea side walks :(

Could you get a mild sedative from the vet? Or perhaps put him in a covered crate till he settles down a bit then remove it after a little while when he is calm again.
 
I travel Blue in the footwell by my feet and have never had a problem - you could always start again at the beginning, with feeding him in the stationary car for a week or so, then feed him in there while the car is running - and do lots of very little trips to a nice walk - less than a mile if poss to start with - just have a lovely walk then home for treats, and build up slowly - neighbours might think you've lost it driving the dog a few yards down the road!
