Hiya everyone,

im thinking of giving Zeb turkey necks. He already has chicken wings nerely every night, but im not sure about necks, what they do,(like cleaning their teeth) or if they can be safley given to dogs.

Zeb does enjoy his wings and meaty bones. Cant give him all raw diet because he want eat it. But im happy to give him bones (if its safe to)

any advice would be greatful

mine have turkey necks and love them ,makes a change from the wings too.

Im not sure what necks other people get but i have turkey necks and they are absolutely huge.

They are about the same size in circumference as a small apple and about 10 inches long. Maybe others have chicken necks?

I feed my Dobermann Turkey necks but there is absolutely no way the whippets would be able to manage them due to the size. I also feed her turkey wings, which again are huge in comparison to the Whip's chicken wings.

For a whippet, i'd use chicken necks, i can't see how they'd get through a turkey neck.

I give mine turkey neck chunks as a change from chicken wings. Buy them from the same place as the wings ...................... Berriewood. They come in 2 kg bags, 5 bags in a box and are sliced across the neck so you get big 'discs' which my Whips love. I would give approx 4 slices instead of 1 chicken wing. Mine have this for breakfast.

AMP do the same product but, as with all their bulk (2kg) packs, you can buy them singly in an order.

I have never managed to find place selling turkey necks, but I do not doubt they would crunch them up without any problem. I give them everything in chunks, half an ox heart gets chomped up in no time. :)

The turkey necks we have come whole from a butcher friend who gives us them for nothing (along with the heart & kidneys). It would be extremely difficult to butcher it up, even with a meat cleaver. I did offer a whole one to Frankie once and he pulled his nose up at it (very unusual for greedy gut  ).

Therefore, if going to use them for Whips, i'd get the chunks that Dessie mentioned.

My whippets have Turkey necks. I buy them in the dog section of the Super Market. They come pre packed. Some times four to six in a bag depending on the size.

Seraphina, I get mine at Woolworths.
