Please can anyone tell me how accurrate are ultrasound scans in determining how many puppies are being carried in a 6 week pregnant bitch?

Why what happened? I think for the price the vet charges to do it they could be a bit more reliable!

I,ve never had my bitch scanned as theres no guarantee what the vet says,so i don't se the point of wasting the money :- when you might need it towards a possible caesarean or having dewclaws done etc.Besides its nice to wait and see how many she has :D :D

Good luck to Twiglet - I'd rather wait and see how many you get on the day. x

Wey you would say that, wouldn't you?

You know I'm impatient you conkerbonce!

It also puts the mum through the stress of a visit to the vets.

Twiggy had to go to the Vets anyway to be weighed for wormer. It was just a quick decision to get her scanned at the same time. So many people had told me about phantom pregnancies. She loves the vets, her tail never stops wagging in there!

We had both our bitches scanned at 30 days it costs £16.

For Holly's litter she was out by one and Ruby's out by 3. It is over and done with, within 2 minutes, with no stress to the bitch what so ever.

Well it cost me double what you paid and I was so excited. Nearly as much as when I was scanned when pregnant. I think I just wanted peace of mind that the pups were developing and breathing. Vet reckons 3, poss 4 pups and they were right up to Twig's sternon!
