Hi, I have been offered a puppy full pedigree and all the health tests but it has a slow closing umbilical cord and a slight over bite. Not sure what to do, she has offered this puppy at a cheaper price than she would normally sell her pups. Advice please?

It depends what you want the puppy for, if it is to show and or breed from then no do not take it, if it is a pet that you intend to neuter then there should be no problem, you could ask her to take it to your vet to be checked over to ensure the hernia will heal and check that the overbite will not cause any problems in future.

Hi Murphyrules, thank you for replying. She has had the pup vet checked and has said that it is a slow closing hernia and that the over bite is 5mm and could correct itself. I wouldn't be showing the dog but might be interested in breeding her when she is old enough.

To be honest I would not breed from this wee dog, hernias and poor jaw conformation can be hereditary.
