Thing with Chemo is that you do override the immune system in the process of attacking the cancer cells. Generally the healthy cells can repair the damage done by the chemotherapy and breaks are given to give them chance to repair. Whether the course of chemo has been adequate enough to kill the cancer cells is a hard one for the vet to know, especially when they're battling against a weak immune system that's been subjected to pneumonia. I'm sure whatever the vet decides, it will be the best decision and certainly not an easy one to make.
