I am just on the phone to Parnew. It is late at night here, and his old girl looks like she has just suffered a stroke. Is anyone out there got any veterinary experience. Is it in Jess best interest to keep her comfortable till morning or should they be trying to find a Vets now.

i would get her to a vet asap.......

good luck and let us know how she is :luck:

The vets have been rung. There is not too much they can do for Jess, so the advice for the moment is half an asprin and they will see her in the morning. I have a feeling Griff and Lisa won't be sleeping well tonight.

Karen Im so sorry. :(

The only experience Ive had of strokes is when Lady my whippet I had years ago had them in her later life.

I did see the vet, cant remember what they gave her but she lived for quite a few years more after that, only it really slowed her down. One eye seemed

different and her head was slightly tilted to one side, but other than that she stayed fairly active for an old girl at 16.

How old is she now Karen?? Good luck to you both.. :luck:

Hi Janis,

Jess is 14 next month and at the minute she is having little naps and is finding it hard to stand unassisted, she has had a few minor strokes TIA's in the past year but nothing to bad, our vet said that it was only time before a bigger one comes along and her age and heart would make things hard for my old lady if and when the big one comes.

I think that I may only have a few hours left with my darling as it breaks my heart to she her this way but I shall do my very best to help her as she lays in my arms to comfort her. Thanks for you concern and wishes but must get back to my girl. :( :(

My dog had a stroke and no vet treatment worked for her so i tried Belladonna twice a day and 24 hours she was a different dog its worth a try you an get it from chemists or homeopathic places. Afriend of mine had a lurcher with a stroke and rang me so i told her the same thing and the following week she ran off after a rabbit . Please give it a try.

Good luck. I hope there is an improvement soon. Fingers crossed for her :luck:

Thinking of you all - sometimes with strokes time is the best healer, I know you will do what is right, I am in the same position with one of mine :(

Best of luck :luck:

Flint had a stroke, aged about 12, I think. He was off his legs but the vet couldn't see him for about 16 hours. When he finally did, Flint was already recovering and the vet had him jumping over sticks in the garden. He was on Vivitonin for a couple of years and was completely normal. Finally had another stroke when he was almost 15 and this time, there was no recovery so it was pts time. Best of luck to Jess.
