Thank you for your lovely reply, fortunately I’m a chef in a nursery so I can take time out if I need too. I never thought losing Bailey would hurt this hard we had her for 12 amazing years and I knew this time would come but oh my god it hurts x

My husband and I felt physically ill when we lost our dog. For some reason we were incredibly thirsty, too, and drank a load of water. it just shows what a profound effect grief can have on your body. Remember, whatever you feel is fine, there's absolutely no 'shoulds' when it cmes to how you feel and how long it takes to get through the worst.

In time, you might want to share some photos of Bailey or tell us about him - what a great dog he was, the antics he got up to. It can actually help to share those treasured memories with people who truly understand how you feel xx

I'm not surprised you feel floored. This was sudden and you will not with her at the time of her passing that's going to leave you with a whole extra layer of grief and pain.

But the others are right it does get easier the pain dulls and turns into an ache that you never quite get rid of but one day you'll be able to look at those photos think about her and talk about her without crying.
But that time isn't now now you're still wrapped up in it all in the shock and the grief and the total misery in loosing such a huge part of your life and that's fine.
Don't try to brush it off don't try to carry on as if nothing has happened let people know that you don't feel able to cope with talking about what's happened just yet, let them know you're grieving and you need space there is nothing wrong in that.
