I'm totally for innoculation, for me the benefits far outweigh the risks and the sight of a young dog dying of parvo is truly hideous and quite preventable.

Mmmmm, this is one of the many reasons that i DON'T booster. Many years ago before i knew better,i had a puppy jabbed for parvo, who died of just that 2 weeks later NOT NICE!!! :(

Exactly why I stopped using conventional vaccines! 5 month old (bought in) puppy died of Parvo, even though he had been fully innoculated, exactly the same as the puppies I had bred which were the same age and all the adult dogs. None of the others had any symptoms at all. I also know of fully vaccinated dogs dying of Lepto ................. so not for me!

I have used homeopathic nosodes totally for the last 12 years now.

The lepto jab only covers the dog for around 6 months anyway, unless that's changed now,but i doubt it!!! So it's obviously relying on it's own immune system for the rest of the time!!

Put that to your vet next time you go & see if he/she's honest enough to admit it!!! :- "

Is there anymore info for Homeopathic :D

John wants to get Gizmo a booster next January, but after the way Robbie and Ricky came home from the vets, in agony,,and I mean in real pain :( ,,I dont want another of my dogs to go through it again.

I would like another holiday in Spain or somewhere hot  , but feel like Im letting the dogs down and causing pain for them :(

PS,,,Ricky is now looking a lot better :D , but Robbie is still in pain :( ,,,Hope he's back to normal tomorrow

I'm totally satisfied that i'm already doing what is in the best interests of my pets and my vet is entirely honest and whether or not to vaccinate and the perceived risks/pros and cons have been discussed in depth and i will still always vaccinate my dogs.

Have to say we have owned dogs for over thirty years and never had a problem with vaccinations.

As far as i'm concerned innoculation is the lesser of two evils and i will only ever regret the things i haven't done and never regret the things i have.

I've just phone my insurance company to ask if they accept homeopathic alterntives to vacinations and there was nobody there to answer my question today but there will be tomorrow.

I also phoned Marks and Spencer pet insurance and they do accept the homeopathic alternative...as long as its done by a registered vet/practice.

I'll let you know what my insurers say tomorrow.

If anyone is interested in going down the homeopathic route, phone your insurers and ask.

I spoke to the vet today and explained about wanting to have the intial injections but perhaps go down the route of homeopathic alterntives in place of boosters. He named another vet within the practice that is qualified with this and said I could call in or phone him to discuss it further. Plus it's the same practice that runs the kennels for when I go on Hols.

Hellybobs,

I'm delighted with what you say about M&S insurance, cos they are the ones I'm going for when I get the length of insuring Willow. :D

Well I've spoken to my vet tonight (had to take Inca for a check) about going down the homeopathic route and she more than happy to help.

She explained it all in detail of how its done and the pro's and con's of both sides.

She has 2 dogs herself and both of them have only had the puppy vacinations and never been given a booster and they and 3 and 5 years old.

She did tell me that the vacs from the suppliers that are meant to last 2 or 3 years have stated that they can't guarantee they will last more than 12 months and thats why vets often advise the vacs to be given annually.

She did say it does have alot to do with money and they would be stupid to deny it but they will carry out the wishes of each customer as long as the animals are safe and well.
