Elizabeth,Sue and Terry are usually around in the evening, so try phoning then. A few people didn't turn up on the day, so the likelyhood is you will get a run against another dog. Your dog is paired against a dog of similar weight, age and height in a stake. The first pair in the stake are hand slipped and race against each other, then the second pair.

I see. Well, we won't be expecting rosettes as someone isnt the fastest whippet in the world, but he's better over longer distances and needs to get fit for the lurecoursing which he is VERY good at  I'll try calling them again tonight. for the record if there are any 5 yr old, 28lb dogs needing a partner out there...

So you want a certificate like Julia's do you Scott? I would like Archie not to come 4th out of 4 bless him

I'll get knitting then

Cool slip lead - we could have done with one like that at the BSFA!

 I'd like Josie not to run off and try to play with her running mate after she comes out of the slips :b :- "

Well i know some dogs who are finely tune, revved up & ready to Rock & Roll............ and then hopefully run a hill sprint (w00t) LOL. Did i mention they all run at the Northern :- " best of luck club members  and of course everybody else :luck: :D

We should be there all being well. Bean and Mouse are booked in to run. First time that we've made it since it moved to Gloucestershire. First time in slips for both of them. Looking forwards to going to the pub.

BTW Where do the cars park at the bottom of the hill or at the top? I need to know so that I know whether I'm taking the dogs to the slips or catching. ie not walking up the blooming hill. On the other hand I could bribe Hannah to run up and down maybe.

The times we have been the cars are parked nearer the top, but I don't know how far down you can go. It is a long way back up......I always do the catching :- "

We hope to be there as Diggers wound has, this week, dried up and healing nicely now.

AND.... its his second birthday that day, so what better way for him to celebrate  :D

 Right then I'll be catching and Alan will be taking the dogs down to the slipper. :D

Glad to hear that Digger is now okay. Where was he injured? I know that his mouth was hurt on the line at Radway. Was that injury worse than it appeared on the day? Sorry if you've already said elsewhere I've been off line for awhile. Second birthday eh! Sounds like a good reason to go to the pub and raise a glass or two to him.

We do one of each Barb..........Then we only have one racing. I still think a trailer ride service to the top would be a very profitable business venture, either that or horse and cart. 50p a ride, you'd be raking it in

He had a burn from the lure line on his legs :( :luck:

Chatted to sue and she said fine, turn up. OH now saying it's too much to drive hour and a half with a vomity whippet and expect him to run afterwards. What do you think? He's not as bad as he was, just a bit of drooling and whinging nowadays, although I don't usually feed before travelling (not a good idea before running). Not a problem at south ox races, they're only 15 mins away!

Have you tried cocculus (homeopathic) - cured Zephyr's sickness in a week - one half an hour before a daily drive seemed to sort it out!

Elizabeth the more he does long jurneys the better he will get at traveling.

Try the duvet trick - someone suggested it on here recently and I have to say it works like a charm! I've never seen such a relaxed dog. No drooling, nothing! It must really cushion the motion for them

I agree 100%! When we first got Connor he puked for England and gozzed all over the place! What we did was took him places where there was fun at the end of the journey, like racing, Hill sprints, etc and he soon stopped!

Well, he does the 5 hour trip to Wales quite regularly and still manages a little puke towards the end. Just normally I wouldn't run him after. We're coming anyway, see you all sunday

Great!!!!!!!

Looking forward to meeting you.

My little Fynn is terrible at travelling. You just have to keep at it, it can't rule your life. Just wrap him in a big duvet, and bung a big towel under him, you probably won't run straight away, so he'll have time to recover
