My 8month old american bull cross over the past two weeks has been displaying very strange behaviour towards me. He has been more clingy than usual following me wherever I go and sitting at my feet crying while licking my legs constantly. He is constantly pawing at me and crying and I'm getting worried about him he has no physical symptoms and is eating drinking and going to the toilet as normal and is wormed and fully up to date with his injections. Please if you have experienced the same thing or know why he is doing this I would appreciate he advice thank you.

Hi BasesMummy and welcome to DogForum :)

I think it's very possible that you've given the reason for this behaviour in your opening post. It's his age.

At 8 months he'll be starting puberty and there are lots of developmental stages that come along with that, which express themselves as boundary testing, clinginess or challenging behaviour. If you have no other reason to be concerned health wise I'd just reassure him but don't make a big fuss about it or you could make him more likely to be clingy in future. It's very likely that this is a short lived phase, so that as long as you're keeping his routine in place he will fit back into it soon.

These phases can happen at any time, but they're likely to come back to back as he grows from a puppy into an adult dog, so you may have a very interesting year ;)

Please give him scruffles off me :)
