I am very disappointed that in our local pub/ restaurant, where we eat once a week, that none of the staff wear any type of face covering/protection, not even the landlord!
We always walk into the pub with a face mask on and only remove it once we are seated. There is a huge container of 70% alcoholic hand gel at the door and smaller bottles at various places around the very clean and spacious areas, with clear see through safety barriers between all tables, some tables have also been removed to create greater distance.
Yet the waiting staff come to our tables without any face protection,(not even the clear plastic types) they go from one table to another, they stand quiet close to take orders and as we are sitting they talk down to us.
Their breath must pass over us and ours must also transmit to them too, they walk in and out of the kitchens for food orders that are to be given to their customers (as they reach very closely to deliver the plates of food to each customer). If anyone is going to spread the Covid virus it must surely be these people.

I am by no means suggesting that the pubs/restaurants should be closed, just that the staff should wear protective face coverings themselves.

I thought it was compulsory for serving staff to wear them now:

OH won't eat out at the moment unless we sit outside, and it's a bit chilly for that now. We haven't got any relevant preexisting conditions apart from getting on a bit, but it just feels like an unnecessary risk. And of course, it's not just your own health that could be affected if you get infected, but that of anyone else you spend time with.

Well me thinks pubs and clubs should be closed, many people in these places don’t respect this virus one bit, sorry to say a pub is not a place I need to go to while the virus is spreading,, excuseme just report this shamble of a pub.

In theory, if a pub is open, social distancing can be controlled, people's contact details can be taken, and appropriate protection can be used by all. Anyone not observing the rules could be shown the door and then thrown bodily out of it. If pubs etc. were all closed, people would go round to each other's houses, whether allowed or not, get sloshed and not distance in the slightest - then go home, and to work, and infect everyone else.

Then, I think of my uncle - he's old and not in great health, but his life revolves round walking to the pub, having a pint or two with friends, and walking home again. Yes, there's a risk, but for him, take this away and his mental health will decline enormously, as will his physical health as he probably wouldn't walk anywhere else.

It's very difficult - we all know a harder, longer lockdown would be effective if almost everyone complied (or at least buy us time to develop a vaccine), but the more restrictions there are, the more people will not just ignore them, but indulge in even more risky behaviours. So I think my choice would be to keep these establishments open, have great big scary bouncers enforcing the rules, and have police/military prowling in areas where people are likely to gather at close range.

How much rebelling do you think I think there is? This is the point - we all know that there are very many complete BLEEPS! out there who wouldn't care if they infected their own granny, and there are also idiots wittering on about their human rights being affected by the wearing of masks, ignoring other people's rights to walk around safely, and those who believe that the virus is a myth, and the vaccines will lead to mind control or something, and we need tinfoil hats to protect us from 5G.... Lord knows how they manage to even spell their own names.

But it's no use just saying what these people should do and dreaming of what we'd like to do to them - the government need to work out the best way of controlling the virus taking into account that people like this exist. Given their keenness to blame everything on anyone but them, I don't have much confidence in this though...

We went to our pub last Wednesday, maybe the law had not specified this last week. We are due to go again tomorrow, or maybe not!
Where will I find written information about this. If they are not wearing protective covering this week I will quiet happily report them.

We went out to a pub on the 3rd October and all of the staff were wearing face coverings ...if reported they face a hefty fine ..i wouldnt go to a pub and eat if the staff werent wearing a face covering ...

My friend and I, (and of course Folly), have had a Sunday lunch in a pub for the last two Sundays and they were well organized. Plenty of space between tables, all staff we saw wearing masks, some items on a blackboard and we were asked if we wanted a disposable menu, (as their was a choice of roast dinners on the board we didn't). They gave us a slip to write our names etc on. Taking the order he kept well away and when they brought it they were close for as short a time as possible. One staff member told a chap off for going to the loo without putting his mask on. So we were happy with them and will be going to the same pub in future, assuming we remain allowed to.

You could peer in through the windows next time you pass and see if they've upped their game.

It is an out of the way country pub, you have to know where it is to find it, but would have to turn round to get back home. It would be difficult to keep an eye on things without the possibility of being seen. Such a shame.
