Hello all,

four weeks till Pimms can go walkies outdoors, by then she will have had her second jab :)) .

She was very brave about her first one and was too busy wagging to notice the vet sticking her :D !

Can anyone advise me on how far she can walk to start with? Dont want to do her any damage at this young age, but equally by the time four weeks are up she will be desperate to go out for some adventures!

P.S to everyone who wanted a photo, I have one on the computer but its saved as something other then jpeg so cant get it on yet!

just a 10 15min walk daily really. pups run around at home so much anyway, they dont need the exercise, more for lead training, getting them aquainted with the outside world etc. too much exercise can damage joints and developement. hope that helps  and have fun with your baby :huggles:

Lalena's right just short walks to start with and then gradually build it up as she get older and stronger

Are you putting the lead on her in the house to get used to it?? If not I'd do it everyday so its not such a shock when the big day arrives and she can go out :D

I did it with both of mine and when I could eventually take them out, they walked beautifully on the lead

when my dogs were ready for walks we just took them for walkies up and down the road to get their paws used to the tarmac because this is quite important. we also played with them a lot in the garden. going out for a walk is also good so that they can socialise with other dogs and people!! good luck!! :luck:

I socialised mine by carrying them everywhere from them being 8 weeks old...let them get a different view of things...sound of traffic, noisy kids, different people i.e.with hats, glasses, long hair, men and women etc

They also went to and still are going to puppy parties (Dippy's only 15 weeks old) where they meet other dogs and get to play with them...it also gets them used to going to the vet...cos thats where its held BTW

Thanks everyone, I actually live in a flat although our garden is huge. So Pimms has to go on the lead to go down the stairs just incase someone has left the communal front door (which leads onto road) open.

So she is pretty much lead trained already, she hated it at first but now she isnt too bothered by it.

She cant wait to get out and about once she has her second jab!

In the meantime I think she will be getting carried about in a shoulder bag of some type.

She already has some playmates lined up for once she can go out to play! A lab, a springer, and an old english sheep dog, so she will be in her element! :huggles:
