A friend of mine asked if I could find out for her if the Waterloo Cup still takes place and if so does it also included terrier coursing as well as sitehounds .

I remember watching a tv programme about the final Waterloo Cup just before the hunting ban came into force in 2005 but does it still take place with lures ?

i think you have answered your own question you saw the last waterloo cup on tv ,how can it take place with out hares???

:(There is No Waterloo Cup anymore. :( bloody shame too.

I was possitive that the last one was in 2005 but my friend wanted to know for sure . You see her two shibas were set upon by two staffie /plummer type terriers the other night and her 5 month old pup has been badly bitten and there might be knee damage . It happened outside her local pub where there seemed to be a meeting of terriermen !!! the terriers concerned were in a parked van and as my friend passed by the owner opened the van door and the terriers jumped out and started attacking her dogs . Some of the others came over to help and it took quite a few of them to finally get the dogs to unlock their jaws and let the shiba go . The van and terriers then sped off without a sorry or anything .

Next day my friend met one of the men who helped to release the dogs and he said that the owner of the terriers had entered in the Waterloo Cup not so long ago and won a big prize . It's a bit of a long shot but my friend hoped to find out who he is .

Sorry to hear about your friends dogs being attacked ,

Would she be able to recognise the man again or his van even ?

Im sure some of the other Terrier men would know who he was ( esp if hed done well at Waterloo cup meeting ;) >

I think there is a similar event now takes place in Ireland, was introduced after the last Waterloo Cup in 2005, not sure where in Ireland though.

Hope your friends dogs are ok after their ordeal.
