Ozzy (WCRCh.Celtic Flite) was born on 3rd September 1997 out of WCRCh.Kizzynite by WCRCh.Time Flies. From the outset he always had loads of character and loads of energy.
His racing career began three days after his first birthday at the South Cotswold Sprint Open where he won the Maiden Supreme. The following year he continued to do well, and won his half-coat at the Whippet Club Centenary meeting at Uttoxeter against stiff competition. Later in the year he won his full title in a thrilling final at the Moreton-in-Marsh Bend Championships. In the meantime he was placed in several Open finals, and won the Main Suipreme at the Sussex Open.
He finished the season at fifth place in both the Top Ten and Superstars leagues in his first, and sadly only, full years racing.
At the first Open in 2000 at Newmarket he sustained an injury which prevented him ever racing again. He remained otherwise healthy, but did not enjoy being a racing spectator!
Ozzy's spirit lives on in his sons and daughters, and, in turn, their offspring. We still have his son Woody who is litter brother to Lesley Harris's Excalibur, John Broderick's WCRCh.Elgar and Dave Thomas's sadly missed WCRCh. Conway Celt.
Ozzy enjoyed a full and happy life with us, surviving several house moves, and discovering new things to chase. We noticed in recent months that he was showing his age, slowing down and sleeping longer. Two weeks ago he went into a steep decline, and last Saturday we had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye.
He was always our very special boy, and we shall miss him deeply. Rest in Peace, Ozzy, with all our love.
