I'd say if you fling them loosely on top but enough that the cage is virtually all covered she'll be fine.  a couple of duvets are better because they will absorb more noise without you having to tuck them in around the crate.

Old sleeping bags from a charity shop, or pieces of carpet are pretty good sound insulation, more the better. If they also block out light Esme may not realise it is daytime. :) :luck:

Well I think it was much better last night, or maybe I was just so tired I would have slept through anything -_- -_- -_- -_- -_- . She screamed for a bit when we put her to bed, then I heard nothing till 6.15 old time.

I think that the message might be getting through :- "

Well done  Keep up the good work, it all seems so much more bearable if you can sleep :))

blimey Olivia.....

just read this post through.. what an absolute nightmare....

Flora is the dawn chorus in our household...

but you can shout "shut up" and she stops... unless she is desperate for a wee in which case you know, cause she up's the volume to make sure we ge the message..

(here she is with her beloved tennis ball)

great news! Hope it keeps on getting better and better

Hi Olivia,

I'm glad you are making progress with Esme, and getting a little more sleep!

Having said that mine start their dawn chorus at 8.30am, the last 2 mornings they have decided that it's time to get up at 6.45am! I can't even let them keep going until they get fed up, as that's a little too early to be waking the neighbours up on a weekend!

I think they must have been reading about Esme's escapades and decided to join in! :- "

This morning's update:

Hardly a squawk when we put her to bed :) . BUT 11 till 12.30 bark bark bark bark bark  . I had just gone to sleep again when OH sated talking very loundly in his sleep, in fact he shouted 'wake up wake up wake up' in my ear     He doesn't remember it this morning so now I'll never know why.

My suggestion:

Place OH in a crate in the kitchen (making sure he's been fed and walked), pile several duvets over the top of the cage, retreat to bed and do not get up again until he's stopped.

This should fix him! :D
