Delighted to have Bertie the dachsund staying with us at Dreamcatcher cottage this week (not in the photo!). His mum is enjoying Sculpture School at North Tawton, which is about 15 minutes away from us.

Lovely feedback from our guests staying in Dreamcatcher cottage. They didn't bring their dog with them this time, but this is what they had to say about their stay; "This was our first time visiting Devon and we fell in love with it. Thank you so much for the delicious home made cake, it sure was a lovely addition to our birthday weekend. Dreamcatcher is simply wonderful! Very warm even during the chilliest nights. We had a delicious steak in Exeter at Circa 1924 the first evening we arrived. On Saturday we tasted some Japanese at Umami, which was pretty average. The Pig & Pallet surprised us with large American size portions of smoked meat and we completed our food tour at The Jack in the Green, which was outstanding! We will be back when it's warmer to explore the beautiful nature of Devon."IMG_1518.JPG

Some new eatery recommendations for our guests there and, if you do want to go out dog free for a few hours, let us know in advance as we can pet sit for you by prior arrangement.

Great review - thanks for posting @Nicky Bishop

Webber Hill Farm cottages is on my list of places to visit! Just need to find some free dates :)

Ah, The Jack in the Green, haven't been there in a while, might have to fix that ;)

Our cottages are within a few minutes drive of many of the walks run by Dartmoor Nordic Walking. I met Denise, who runs this, and it sounds not as hard work as I thought (I should, of course, be saying it sounds like an amazing way to get fit!). Best of all you can bring your dog with you too! I said I would give her a mention - www.dartmoornordicwalking.co.uk

We have just said goodbye to some lovely guests who enjoyed a stay in Moonseeker cottage. It was such a lovely surprise to go in to do the changeover and find a box of chocolates and a thank you card! Here's what our guests had to say about their stay:

"We have had the most fabulous time here at Moonseeker, thank you so much! The welcome we had was the best we've ever had at a cottage - and the gorgeous cake, wine and flowers were so lovely and thoughtful. There are so many wonderful details in the cottage - books in every room, a selection of DVD's and games, blankets on the chairs - we had everything we needed and more!

We had a lovely time exploring the area, the guidebooks were so helpful. We've had such a relaxing time in this beautiful cottage - we didn't want to leave and will definitely recommend to friends. We can't wait to come back!"

And we can't wait to welcome them again!IMG_4242.JPG

Although you may all be enjoying your holiday together, we can pet sit for you, if you want to pop out for a while to somewhere that isn't as dog friendly as we are! Perhaps it is that restaurant that tempted you with its delicious menu, or you need to pop to the shops and the weather is scorching hot - no dogs left in cars please!!
Give us as much notice as possible so that we can make sure we are available.

Well, the weather was interesting over the last few days, couldn't get cars out, but we took a walk down the snowy lanes into Okehampton to get the essential supplies. Thank goodness Waitrose was open, which meant we just had to have coffee and cake in the cafe there!

We had terrific guests staying over this snowy period, who endured a power cut with good spirits, and the pipe from the well to the toilet freezing.IMGP0209.JPG So glad we put woodburners in! This is what they had to say about their stay:

"Arrived to the wonderful sight of a freshly baked Victoria sponge which tasted delicious - we had to ration ourselves over the next 2 days! Dreamcatcher is a very cosy spot to tay for both dogs and their humans! Our two enjoyed themselves immensely, especially once the snow arrived. Storm Emma slightly curtailed our days out but we still managed trips to Topsham and tavistock and walked in Lydford Gorge after a hearty meal at the Castle Inn there. Our last couple of days have seen us bunkering inside with the dogs, watching and feeding the birds, reading, relaxing in front of the woodburner and generally slowing down - just what was needed! Thank you to Nicky and Trev for looking after us so well, and providing us with an Aga cooked meal when the power went down. So kind! it has been a blast! We will be back!

Lovely feedback from our guests this week, who stayed with their 2 dogs: "our first time at Moonseeker cottage, but definitely won't be our last. A wonderfully equipped cottage, quite a home from home. Very dog friendly, a great advantage with our 2 little pooches. We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday, just what we all needed. Thank you very much Nicky for providing this lovely little haven for our holiday.

Just wanted to mention a couple of places we enjoyed. If you have dogs to keep entertained we found Daymer Beach a lovely big beach with lots of interest for the pooches.

We also made a trip of 5 to 10 mins to Okehampton to a fairly newly established Escape Room. Having never done one before we had no idea what to expect, but we all had a thoroughly good time and are looking forward to coming back, as they have another room in the making.
