This handsome chap is Saluki x (we think) Arthur, a cruelty case living at our vet's surgery & recieving treatment for emaciation & various injuries. He's only around 2, but looked like an old man when he was brought in, one of the worst cases I've seen in reality :( He winces if you raise a hand too near his face, and it's enough to break your heart.

The nurses have taken turns having him at home each weekend, and this week it's fallen to me.

My pics don't do him justice, he's really beautiful and lovely natured  He's put a nice amount of weight on already...he was a total bag of bones 3 weeks ago poor lamb.

The Wendy Lady has grudgingly taken on the role of stunt cat again, and so far he seems cat friendly.

Several people have already shown an interest in giving him the loving home he deserves, so things should start looking up for Arthur before too long.

Just thought you'd all like to see this lovely boy, and wish him luck :)

Awww Arthur looks like such a sweetheart

Hope he finds a new home soon, good luck Arthur :luck: :luck: :luck:

This is him 3 weeks ago...

...he's still painfully thin now, but has definitely improved upon this.

He looks a vast improvement from last week. Fingers crossed for a lovely forever home for Arthur. :luck:

poor Arthur :( he looks lovely, good luck in finding the right home for him :luck:

Well done in shaping Arthur up  what a smashing boy  - Good luck for a new home soon. :luck: :luck:

what a difference 3 weeks of love make

I'm not going to rile myself up typing what i think of people who treat animals in this way - take it as read that i don't have many charitable thoughts towards them.

well done ponygirl and good luck Arthur

Bless...he looks so at home with you....are you not tempted to keep him? :- " ;)

He's lovely...hope he finds a good home soon :luck:

Gosh he is a handsome boy   Hope he finds his own sofa soon :luck:

I know I'm soppy ... and I'm going to blame this on the flu I have just at the moment, but when I read this and saw Arthur's pictures, I cried.

I want to wrap him up in a fluffy blanket and cuddle him.

I can't bear cruelty cases. Not to animals, children, or indeed any people.

I mean, WHY?

Thanks so much for everyone's good wishes.....Yes Nicola I have to admit I was sorely tempted to keep him myself as apart from being a lovely lovely boy, he's also one of those rare coursing dogs that appears to be reasonably cat friendly!

One problem we're encountering at the moment tho, is that as he's convinced that Eli is a lady and that they should marry immediately  ....Eli of course is positively disgruntled (nay, pissed off :p ) about this, understandably. Obviously this could change significantly when he's castrated, but I'm a little concerned that poor Arthur may have queered his pitch (so to speak!) with Eli and spoiled any chances of a good relationship, and the last thing I want is for any of my boys to be miserable :( Anyway, as soon as he's up to weight he'll be castrated & then we'll see how it goes.

Bless him, he's had only the most basic training and will require a lot of patience and hard work, but boy will it be worthwhile, he's going to make someone (if not me :( ) the most loyal and loving friend. It just breaks my heart to see the confusion he's going through at the moment poor lamb.

Sorry to go on! And not even a photo for you this time! Will try to post some more soon.

Thanks again all of you.

I couldn't agree more

And you're not on your own, these cases always make me weep, there's just no end to it is there :(

Thanks for the update ponygirl, about Arthur - and his "courtship" of Eli made us laugh ("we are to be married AT ONCE").

Gill

*Edited to say - at least he's in a good place now.
