Hi, my cockapoo is 5 years old, and she's always liked to get comfy, but recently, she's been weirdly aggressive with her methods. Whether it's a blanket or her bed downstairs, she's been almost doing a digging motion to then flip them? It's quite hard to explain, but it looks like she's working hard at it. I thought it was a funny quirk at first but now its constant and she almost seems upset while she's doing it.

Also, the bed she uses in my room (that she's slept on for 2 years) is suddenly a no-go zone? She won't sleep on it, even if I give her usual 'bed' command a few times. Is she trying to tell me something? Has anyone experienced this before?

How long has she been like this for? I'm wondering if she could be having a phantom pregnancy.

Alternatively, maybe she's feeling generally stressed - have there been any changes in your/her life recently, even something that might seem completely trivial to you?

I'd say it's been a month of this now? Can they have a phantom pregnancy if they've been done? But maybe that is a possibilty, bless her

My mother lives with us and her mother passed away in January so, being around that sad vibe probably isn't helping now you say that. We try and keep happy around Daisy but she's a perceptive little thing

Yes, spayed dogs can have phantom pregnancies - it's not something I have any experience of, having had a boy dog, but others here will have more experience. I'm sorry for the loss of your gran - yes, it could have had an effect on her.

Unlikely to be a phantom if it's the first time. Sounds like stress to me - repeated rhythmic action releases endorphins. Could be accumulated stress starting with your bereavement and then picking up on moods and changes within her household.

I'd recommend a DAP diffuser and more exercise.

I am sorry for your loss. It isn't a great time for extra stress for you either.

Yep, I would suggest more walks too - quite good for both quadrupeds and bipeds during stressful times
