Well i went to the lurcher and terrier show today in faringdon and what a day! Very very wet!!!! The judge was rubbish in my eyes, he was picking dogs out that looked like a bunch of show bred greyhounds that didn't know the meaning of work!

Anyway it was still ok. My 3/4 grey 1/4 collie did get a 3rd in the smooth bitch over 23''. Just because her teeth were cleaner than the greyhound lookalike that was going to be picked. I went home early because it was absolutely tipping it down and i couldn't be bothered to stand in the ring. :) I took a pic of my bitch with her rossette at home, it was too wet to get the camera out at the show.

Braver than me sighthoundlover  I settled for decorating this morning and a bit of shopping this afternoon.

The flaming sun is shining now though :(

:( Why didnt I pick the decorating option???? :(

Went to the show today and got soaked through to my pants!

Basil went in the rough coated over 23" dog class and the judge asked me loads of questions, ending with him expressing a desire to use him to father a litter and asking for my phone number. I had kind of thought this meant he liked Basil, but we didnt get placed!!

As the weather was so foul, I came home after that, so Rosie was denied her chance to be unplaced, but I am sure there will be other opportunities lol.

Good to meet Sighthoundlover and family, plus their hundreds of lovely dogs.

Well done for getting a 3rd

We got frozen through at the Pickering Show the other week and yet we still put ourselves through it :teehee: :teehee:

well done,shes  lovely.

Got up at 6.30am intending to go - but Lupin really hates the rain & would have been miserable so did the usual shopping, cooking Sunday stuff. :(

Lovely pic with rosette - well done!

Maybe judge thought he would be accused of favouritism he if picked Basil after conversation - can't think of any other reason for him not getting rosette

well done shl on getting 3rd place, thats great. peony, battle on! despite the weather you decided to go to your first show..alone.. and give it a shot..thats an acheivement in its self! once your basil gets gets recognised on the "circuit" youll do ok. the fact that the judge asked you questions on him showed he liked him but probably knew the other dogs in the ring better..if you get my drift? hes a great looking dog and will shine thru..watch and see. :D

j  hn

Hi K9ers,

I also went to the Faringdon show and also got soaking wet. Really dissapointed, apart from the terrible weather, the show did not seem very well organized, not a patch on previous years. Old Berks could do much better, they only seemed interested in Hound sponsership. Can't say much about the judging although there did seem to be some unusual placings. Not worried though, only went for the experience. Hasn't put me off as my puppy is still very young.

PS Thought you deserved more than 3rd, lovely looking dog. Cheers all.

It was good to meet you to peony. Hopefully ill see you again. :)) It was obvious the judge knew some of them there. Theres plenty of other shows to go to and you're bound to win somewhere with him. ;)

No not at all, some just don't know what a lurcher was bred for and they apparantly are suppposed to look like show bred greyhounds. :D If they look at the other end of the lead, i give em a smile.
