What’s best to put in a Kong?

I’m unsure what to put in a Kong toy, the treats I have are so small they easily fall out, which will just not keep him occupied for long. Going to use it for separation training

Wet dog food, sweet potato and leftover cooked veg, banana / strawberries and yoghurt or peanut butter (not too much peanut butter as it's full of fat and get a natural one without sugar and salt - and make ABSOLUTELY sure peanut butter has no xylitol which is toxic to dogs - UK ones are usually safe). Freeze all of the above to make them longer lasting, you might need to let them soften a little to let him get the idea.

Sounds great..... don’t think this is a one for my carpet, more for the kitchen I think

You can get 'Peamutt' butter from Pets at Home and it has no xylitol My whippet likes it a lot.

Also - when my whippet was the same age as yours she had no patience for the frozen one (she did a few weeks later though!) So definitely start off without freezing the kong. They soon get the idea to throw it around to get stuff out.

What I do with my dog's Kong is mash up a banana and stuff it in, followed by peanut butter over the top to seal it up (obviously xylitol free), then freeze overnight, she loves it! The only thing I've found with freezing it is that the Kong doesn't last as long, it seems to have disintegrated a bit and the opening has gotten bigger and bigger!

Canned Tuna in Spring Water. Drain and mix with Natural Yoghurt.

In the summer, our typical Kong filling has been natural yoghurt, with some fruit added, typically banana and/or blueberries. Our dog loves it in the hot weather.

Thanks all. Great ideas! I had only though of forcing treats in to it which doesn't work very well and I was concerned about the peanut butter for the reasons mentioned.
