Travelled 106 miles to the show,(and the same back)to come home with a 25 pence red rosett, for first place in the under 23s,and nothing at all ,not even a blue rosett, for comming 2nd in the under 23 racing final.(No trophie's,for anything). And from what i did see of trophie's(a whole one),well you might have fitted a hard boiled egg into it.Doubtful though, seriously. The racing was totaly unorganised, with the enterence money for each heat, being takin on the line ,sometimes after the lure had been shakin to the dog's,and them going crazy, resulting in a few false slips,as the dog's could'nt be held back any more. And as Stormy say's,no muzzles, resulying in dog's being injured due to fighting. In my own final,i was'nt realy expecting a big lot from Megan ,as she's 9 in august. But the condition she is in proved me totaly wrong, and with Rose's lightning fast slip leaving the rest of us for dead, and a terrier running in front of Megan, half way up the hill, she was only beaten by a couple of length's.Iwill take nothing away from Tori here,as she did everything she was supposed to do,(and did it well)to once again take the under's title.Rose congratulated me on Megan's performance for her age ,and told me that no dod or bitch in England ,even got near Tori.So it make's me wonder, just how fast Megan was, when she was a young fit bitch.I did see one wee black bitch getting injured today in the puppy race, and i would like here to wish it a speady recovery.Anyway i have a few photo's to sort out and post,so i'll let Stormy and co,fill you in on the rest.Oh i forgot to mention,Pyper got Reserve Champion Puppy.(Still no trophie's) ...Billy...

(w00t) Well done Billy, Pyper did you proud and from what John told me this afternoon, the pups look a real credit to you. As for the way the show was run, I dont know if its the same with you as it is here, but generally, the Hunt shows are less polished than more general events and as the reason for the shows is usually mostly for generating income, there tend to be fewer prizes etc etc etc. Might be different over with you though. Whatever though its the taking part that counts isnt it

Looking forward to the pictures Billy :p

mate while i agree it wasnt the best show in the world but as peony said the show is run by the north down hunt and any profit is going to the hunt (which in my eyes desevers our support) even though my bullx won the cup :p i wouldnt of cared wheather there wasnt any trophys ,cups or what ever just as long as im there supporting whatever group/club etc is holding the show and trying to make that club a few quid

In ref ,to no trophie's.this is roughly how many dog's that raced, and how much money taken, and no trophie's i think for the racing.Or maybe there was ,and just none for reserve's.Rose will let us know about this one.Anyway,Veteran's 9 entry's,Whippets 8,Pup's 10 i think,Bullx, run on their own as there were no muzzle's, 6.Under's 7 or 8.Over's,16.At £2.00 a dog.+ Terrier's,12 in all. 68 dog's in all at £2.00 a throw.£136.00,and not a trophie, with only a rosette for first. But as i say,Rose will know more,as she won the under's.My apologie's if im wrong... ..Billy...

Hi Kojak.Seen you there today, and liked youre dog.I know where you're comming from. But when you travel over 100 mile's in both direction's and pay £2 a class, for a few different classes, and then for the racing, then its always nice to have at least a trophie of some sort to take home.It cost me £25 in petrol, and £10 in entry fee's.If the hunt club want's the lurcher folk to support them, then surely they should support us also. How many hunt club member's come to our lurcher show's.Today i won the under 23 lurcher bitch,Reserve Champion Pup,and reserve under 23 racing Champion.2 paper thin rosette's.Would this entice me to another of these show;s.? There wasnt even a bag of meal.Surely they could have got some sort of sponsership. Just my opinion, and im sure, that of other's.In 18 years of showing and racing, ive only ever seen this once before, and yes it was a hunt club's show. ...Billy...PS.It was worth it ,in as far as it put me back in touch with a lot of old mate's ,that i had'nt seen for quite a while.I know the judge too ,as he live's close to me.And he is a bullx man of great rapport, and has some very good stuff about him.he also know's the fire that my Whippetx have. Well done today. ...Billy...

yes mate i know where your coming from i travelled a fair bit as well it can be a exspensive day out i agree they could of done with sponership i could of done with a bag of dog meal im nearly out  a fecking tin of beer was £1.50  but mayabe they will learn from it and have better prizes next time they have a show this show next sunday should be a better run show the racing starts at 12 with show to follow, and yes the judge has a few good bullx about him ;) next time you see me with the dog give me shout so i can put a face to the name

TOTALLY agree with you George ....................if I ever partake in the competition side of things, I will be doing it purely to gauge how my dog has improved, how he compares to others and to have a hopefully pleasant day out :) NOT to bring home silverware :- " If my entrance fees help to put some money back into a Hunt, then so much the better !!

SORRY GUYS...THEY COULDNT RUN A SHOW IF THEY WERE PAID TO !! AND INFACT THEY WERE...VERY WELL PAID !

KOJAK SPOT ON MATE RE-BEER £1.50 !!!! FERFUXSAKE COME ON

THE EVENT WAS A "LURCHER VERSION OF EUROVISION" (w00t)

IF MYSELF AND IAN HADNTVE WALKED THE 110YD TRACK A FEW TIMES LIFTING BOULDERS OFF IT IT WOULDVE BEEN A "VETERINARY SURGEONS HEAVEN" ON MONDAY MORNING.

NO PREPARATION WHATSOEVERE INTO TRACK OR RING CONDITIONS....A LADIES "WEE-WEE ZONE" WOULDVE BEEN GREAT TOO, AS MY LEGS WERE FUKN SORE JUMPING OVER HEDGES WITH THE CAMERA TRYING NOT TO MISS ANY DECENT SHOTS

TO BE HONEST AS A RACING ENTHUSIAST MORE THAN SHOWING IM GOINT TO GIVE THESE LITTLE SHOWS A MISS. THE RACING IS JUST FUKN PATHETIC ....6 DOG FINALS ARE FINE IF WHEN THERES ENUFF WIDTH TO THE TRACK ! NOT CRAMMED IN IN..IN WHICH CASE A 4 OR 2 DOG FINAL SHOULD BE THE CASE !

I REFUSE TO GET MY DOG HURT FOR A MISERABLE BLOODY ROSETTE AFTER GETTING THRASHED FROM BOTH SIDES START TO FINISH COS OF CRAP TRACK AND RACE ORGANISATION.

Maybe it's just me, but even if they had gold clocks to be won, I wouldn't run my dog in such hazardous circumstances.

Yep,that was me .And can i take this oppertunity to thank you ,as it was all go at that stage.I was actualy trying to get the photo's for here, and that's why i was in a bit of a panic, cause John did'nt want me to miss Colt's run,and we were'nt sure when the lure was gona go,as most time's he took for ever ,colecting the money, and then when i was slipping Megan,i thought id lossen her coller a nick ,as i had tightened it for the run before,as she was doin her nut, trying to get off,and just as i started, off goes the lure. But i was well chuffed with second ,a couple of length's behind Miss Tori. Not bad for an 8 year old.So many thank's,Blue eyed boy. ...Billy...

And could i just add to this, that the grass in places was at least a foot long, which left some dog's who did'nt know the game ,not having a clue what was going on.Now seeing as everytime i open my mouth on here, someone has a go at me,let's see if anyone else get's the grief that i do for backing up my oppinion's.Or is it alway's gona be,jump Billy time, every time i open my mouth.Cause it seems that way from where i sit. There were dog's,(even Terrier's,catching the lure, because it was;nt going through the grass at the start, before the quad and a few races flattened it down a bit,and with there being no muzzles, this could have been total desaster, especialy with the Terrier's.There was also a Terrier, and a lurcher, slipped across the track, while the dog's were racing.
